    Exactly. Although it is very unfortunate that the death toll will probably reach a thousand but could you imagine if that 8.9 Magnitude quake hit the Philippines? Our Death toll would probably reach hundreds of thousands.

    a nuclear bomb is so different from a nuclear power plant.
    The Chernobyl Disaster was a design error. safety measures and emergency shut down system was not properly designed.
    The japan nuclear power plants automatically shut down during earthquakes thereby preventing accidental meltdown.

    nuclear power plants does not involve nuclear explosions.
    the nuclear reactors are only used to create high intensity heat to boil large amount of water to produce steam and convert it to Electrical Energy.

    radio active leaks are the environmental disaster caused by nuclear power plant and its effects are long term due to the Half Life of the radio active elements are longer before it disappear.
