After acquiring Chandler, I believe this will be the strongest Mavs championship lineup. Go Mavs! I hope this is the time of Mavs to get the championship trophy!!

-Can't wait to see Chandler in a Mavs uniform!!! More importantly I can't wait to see a Kidd/Chandler lob and dunk!!!!

Inside Report: Dallas bench the best in the NBA?

Earl K. Sneed agrees with one national NBA writer that says the Mavericks' bench is the best in the NBA.

Do the Dallas Mavericks possess the best bench in the NBA?

According to Shaun Powell of NBA.com, no team has more firepower off the bench than the Mavericks. No team.

Powell ranks the Mavericks' reserves ahead of the backups for San Antonio, Portland, Milwaukee, Denver, Orlando, Houston, Boston, the L.A. Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. Here's what the national writer had to say about the Mavs' play off the pine:

Best. Bench. In basketball. In terms of talent and depth, no other team compares. It all starts with Jason Terry, always in the hunt for Sixth Man of the Year and a scorer (16.6 points) who can get you 30 points. And the drop-off from the Jet isn't steep, when you consider Jose Barea (7.6 points, 3.3 assists) and either Brendan Haywood or Tyson Chandler, whichever big man doesn't start. The Mavericks could pull five from their bench and beat Minnesota's starting five.

Powell seemingly hit the nail right on its head, noting that the 2010-11 Mavericks figure to have several scoring options on the second unit.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle would agree with Powell's assessment. Carlisle says the squad is so deep that he hasn't even settled on a starting lineup going into the start of training camp on Sept. 28.

"There's a lot of different possibilities, obviously. We feel like we have great flexibility with the club. You know, one of the reasons you have training camp is to compete for those positions, compete for minutes. And again, I just think that our ability to use different lineups, use different combinations, is going to be a big key for us. We’re going to be able to go 10-, 12-deep. I have no question about that," Carlisle said.

With Terry expected to return to his 2009 form -- the year that brought Six Man of the Year hardware his way -- and a starting-caliber center like Chandler coming to Big D likely as a backup behind Haywood, the Mavericks will have a go-to scorer on the perimeter and a legit 7-footer patrolling the paint for the second string.

Throw in the scoring and play-making of Barea, a defensive-stopper like DeShawn Stevenson, an inside-outside big man in Tim Thomas and depending on how Carlisle decides to use the explosive Roddy Beaubois (who Powell left off in his accurate yet incomplete description of the Mavericks' subs), and the Dallas bench will in fact have a bevy of offensive sharpshooters and defensive gems.

All that, and no one has seen what rookie Dominique Jones can do at the pro level.

But what can a strong bench do to help the Mavericks compete for the ultimate prize, the Larry O'Brien trophy -- also known as the golden ball?

Last season, Carlisle said the Mavericks struggled to have both the first-stringers and the key bench contributors playing well as the same time.

"We want to get everybody playing well," Carlisle said last season. "The fact is, there are going to be nights when guys have some struggles. That's why you have a team, so you can try to find other guys who can help.

"Our first unit, a lot of it, we've got to be efficient, move and screen well. That's a group that plays a lot of basketball off the flow, not a lot of play-calling. The recognition of one another has to be really good. (The bench) played some really fine basketball in some instances. We can do it, we just have to work to do it."

And if the Mavericks, and their top-tier bench, can come together and execute in all facets of the game, then that golden ball may just be at the end of the rainbow.

Inside Report: Dee Brown a Maverick?

Can Dee Brown revitalize his NBA career in Dallas?

The former standout at Illinois certainly hopes so after announcing through his Twitter account on Thursday that he will be attending the Mavericks' training camp with a non-guaranteed contract. Here's what the 6-footer posted:

"...today my agent confirmed vet camp with the dallas mavericks!

"@mcuban (Mavericks owner Mark Cuban's Twitter handle) Thanks for the great opportunity to represent your organization much respect DB! I want to thank the mavs org. for showing interest,n giving me this opportunity...Let me clear this situation up!nothing guaranteed I have to go n get it!its still a blessing cuz I have always said I would do this for FREE."

Cuban later confirmed to Mavs.com in an email that Brown has been invited to camp to compete for a spot on the team.

The former All-American for the Fighting Illini is hoping to turn heads when camp begins on Sept. 28, as he tries to secure the 15th and final spot on the roster. Brown came to fame as a member of the three-guard lineup for Illinois that included fellow NBAers Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz and Luther Head of the Indiana Pacers.

Brown, a 2006 second-round pick of the Jazz, has also seen time with Washington and Phoenix in the Association. This offseason, he also competed with the Toronto Raptors' summer league squad. The point guard has bounced in and out of the league, even spending time playing professionally overseas including last season with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.

Now Brown is hoping to find a home in Big D, despite the guard-heavy lineup. But it won't be an easy journey back into an NBA locker room.

Brown will go into camp with future Hall of Famer Jason Kidd, up-and-comer Roddy Beaubois and four-year veteran J.J. Barea ahead of him on the depth chart at the point. The Mavericks will also have the likes of Caron Butler, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion and rookie Dominique Jones to contend with if Brown tries to earn minutes playing on the wings.

Either way, Brown now has his foot in the door and he has an opportunity to step back into the league. If he earns it.

    Default http://bleacherreport.com/articles/449039-top-5-bench-units#page/6

The Dallas Mavericks have the best bench unit in the league. 2009 6th man of the year, Jason Terry, leads the very talented Maverick bench squad. When you have a 20 point scorer coming off the bench, you're squad will be up there in the win column's.

A great bench has to be riddled with good players from 6-10. Besides Jason Terry, the Mavericks have the very underrated J.J Barea. Barea is very small and isn't a starter in this league but the guy can flat out play. He's lightening quick and is a decent three point shooter. Barea pentrates a lot and can get his own shot off.

With the arrival of Caron Butler, it has pushed Shawn Marion to the bench and that could prove to be beneficial for both sides. Marion isn't a threat to score like he was with the Suns and especially not now with Dirk, Terry, and Caron on the team. Marion is extremely versatile. He's still a great defender and rebounder. While he doesn't score as efficiently he use to, Marion proved that he can play the garbage man role pretty well. He was very active on the offensive glass with his put-backs and used his quickness and strength to post up smaller players.

Also, there is Roddy Buckets. Beaubois had a pretty good rookie season and has already proven to be an explosive scorer. If he doesn't start, you're talking about a player like him being your 7th or 8th player off the bench.

The Mavericks also added Tyson Chandler. The 7 footer from Los Angeles has been injured the last two season and may very well not return to the form as he was with the Hornets but he gives the Mavericks more size. The Mavericks will need as many big men they can get their hands on, if they want to match-up with the skyscrapers in Los Angeles.

Mark Cuban's ask questions later method has made the Mavericks the deepest team in the league. Now, they just need to have some postseason success.

mura ni ug SMB ang dallas. star studded kaayo ug line-up pero sige ug trade maong di maka establish ug maayo nga chemistry. for sure before the 2010-2011 all-star break motrade na sad ni ang mavericks para makakuha ug lain nga all-star and it will result to another first round and second round exit in the playoffs and mavericks fans and critics will once again bash the mavericks and blame playoffs "jinx". learn from the spurs mark cuban. tan-awa ang spurs, they kept duncan, parker, and ginobili and resulted to 3 titles and team of the decade honors. i don't believe that dallas is unfortunate in the playoffs. lig-on kaayo ang dallas and the reason why they always end up on the wrong side of an upset kay walay saktong chemistry. dirk is not getting any younger as well as jason kidd, jason terry, caron butler, shawn marion, and brendan haywood. kung molaos ni si nowitzki, sigurado padung ni ug rebuild ang mavericks then their chances of winning a title mogamay ug samot. this dallas roster is capable of dethroning the lakers, cuban and the mavericks management should never bother interfering with the development of this roster. kung motrade sila, back to scratch ilang chemistry.
