    EPIC LULZ!!!!!

On offense to the TS, but his first post makes me think that he is a religious fanatic or something.

FYI, you can't just ban anime. This topic is just like the issue of violent video games. IIRC, violent games are being blamed for the high incidence of violent crimes in the U.S. However, have such games ever been banned there? The answer is NO. Thus, like video games, anime will never be banned.

    EDIT:

Just to set the record straight. I watch anime, and I'm a Roman Catholic, who goes to church every Sunday with my family. I also pray every chance I get, and if I happen to be watching anime when my mother suddenly tells me to join her for the Angelus OR the Friday Novena for Señor Santo Niño OR the Rosary, I stop what I am doing and JOIN her. NOW, do you see ANY BAD INFLUENCE that anime has on me?

Gunfire and Screams? People were vigilant at that time? ilang gusto ra ipasalida and mo lugwa sa TV? where are you getting all these stuff? TV? I think that's a little over on watching movies.

The atmosphere of the Philippines immediately before the imposition of martial law was that strikes where rampant, public disorder was commonplace, the insurgency problem was getting out of hand, the communist threat was still very real and very active.

Martial law changed all that - it actually brought order at the very start, public gatherings were banned. With the right to peaceful assembly banned - it removed the right to protest. Strikes where banned, along with union assemblies - this made investors very happy and actually increased production. The insurgency problem was even answered by warrant less arrests and others.

The government took control of the media, print, radio and TV - anything against the government was banned - there goes the being vigilant argument down the drain. Violent cartoons (anime) was banned by the board of censors (actually under Marcos) for the sole reason reason that they believed it taught children violence - Yes they actually believed that - and that arguement was carried well in to the 1990's.

Gunfire and screams? I think its different if you view history through the TV - and if the ambush of Prime Minister Enrile (yes we had a Prime Minister - after the constitutional assmebly to change the 1935 constitution under Marcos) or the bombing of Manila city hall would slowly come into your list of examples, they actually had other antecedent reasons for those events too.

Now back to the point Marcos, Banned then lifted the ban (on paper 1981, in practice 1983 - PDI) on most programs on TV, Anime (specifically voltes V and all others) - I am very fortunate that I have a family member who was actually there and lived through it.

and I think you mean "Cory", its with a "Y", we owe a lot to her, the least we can do is spell her name right.

    4. Because they make children violent, impulsive and go homosexual
    5. Because they stop people from going to church, reading the Bible and worst of all, it stops them from praying to God

Anime should be banned. This way, Filipino life and culture will be preserved, and Cebu's way of life will benefit from the moral cleansing.

    1. Immorality is not solely based on just anime. the WHOLE media today will always have immorality in it. If you dont want immorality then live in a cave where no media or news will come to you.
    2. Atheism? Surely you jest. There are a lot of anime that has Christian bids to them like Maria-sama ga Miteru or in english The Virgin Mary is Watching or Maria Watches Over Us. Shows that DONT include Christianity is just avoiding religion all together because it just spoils the whole concept of the story.
    3. Promotion of violence and immorality? Doesnt ALL MEDIA do that? As i said in number 1 if you dont want ANY promotion of such acts then live in a cave. We live in a different world now and even IF anime does what you say it does, Doesnt it only help cure peoples ignorance toward the real face of the world? Like how america goes into other countries to "expel corrupt governments" or how there IS a military action against MILF and Abu-sayaff or would you like your children to think that the world is all hugs and kisses and when they get old they get traumatized of what they will see?
4.Become violent? Anime doesnt make people violent. OTHER PEOPLE around said people make them violent by acting as examples. Anime doesnt really hold a role-model status to kids. It is ENTERTAINMENT. Nothing more nothing less. They delve into their imaginations on what a world would be like if fairies, magic pixie dust and magic wands are true. If anime should be banned then isnt other media like books, tv and the internet should be banned too?
5.Having faith in God and going to church IS important and anime isnt the culprit for making kids NOT do things as you said. Haven't you thought about other reasons like they dont have time because they have stuff in school they need to finish? or most of the time its the latter reason of that they feel that sometimes if bad things will happen they feel lost and betrayed by their so called faith because they dont have a rolde model to guide them.

Do you anime fanatics want to corrupt them? Do that and you will be punished in the future.

hahah really? the WORST jud? The worst gift you can give to your children is either these:

    1. A gun
    2. Drugs
    3. A fanatical view of religion.
