^exactly.. would you buy a sniper rifle w/o a scope? and think you can hit a target at max effective range? all those add ons are for the guns added. navigational systems are pretty much the same..
what makes a c130 so noisy? just remove that system and replace it with guns, its now a gunship.. but then we have to open a new airbase to compensate for the system that we just removed..

i dont think we need these fancy military gadgets... philippines is a really, really small country. ground troops is enough IMO.

You didn't get my point. My first post was on your remark about our existing PAF C-130H. Basically I concluded that your remark seemed to mean that our existing last C-130H be converted into an AC-130 Spectre Gunship. But no, no and no. You CANNOT turn that one sole remaining PAF C-130H of ours into an AC-130 Spectre. Basically, the main problem as indicated by my sources, is the airframe. Years of metal fatigue, and then you expect to mount a 105mm howitzer and other weapons that when fired, will introduce shock/recoil into that already aging airframe?

the plane might go down not because of enemy fire but because it fired it's 105mm howitzer

i admire the conviction.. however.. have you seen the last remaining c130? dont underestimate #04.. no no no.. hehe.. you see, the thing about planes is that, ideally, if a part is damaged, it should be replaced right away with brand new parts.. thus making it just like brand new.. pre and post flight checks are mandatory.. regulated flight hours check are mandatory also.. except if its electrical wiring problems.. no such thing as rewiring a plane.. (except recently by a certain company but its irrelevant).. heck even the airframe of those non airworthy junked c130's parked here in cebu are as strong as ever.. those were positioned facing the guests during the ASEAN summit by the way.. as if showing our airforce power.. like we have a lot of planes, (not just airworthy and all are junk) hehe.. those were towed even with the tires flat and not one collapsed..

Well if you believe in that, and if you believe one can convince the government and PAF that such a plan is doable, then by all means, go for it. I however, personally wouldn't recommend a friend to fly in one, that's for sure.

i heard from a friend of mine a story about a high ranking pilot daw that flew one of the c130 from pampanga to cebu.. after post flight check, they noticed there was a descripancy with one instrument, so, ideally SOP would be to remove and replace.. they checked inventory and theres no stock for replacement, no budget for an almost 300k php brandnew replacement also.. so instead of crippling the c130.. they actually opened the instrument, which ideally if not licensed, they should have not done that.. while they were tinkering the instrument, the pilot asked.. " ano na naman yang pinagagagawa nyo?" they replied "nililinis lng sir".. the pilot said "t*ng ina, ayusin nyo paglilinis at ayoko ng madumi" and they all laughed.. then speaking in cebuano, they said, "higtan nalang nato aron dli mogawas" then the other one said "ayaw oi, di man na standard procedure" the other one also said, "wa man tay ikapuli, mogana ra btaw ghapon" then the pilot said.. "cge t*ng ina, magbisaya pa kayo akala nyo di ko kayo naiintindihan? di nyo ko mabebenta.." they all laughed again.. the descripancy was, the alert flag pops out if the plane is not in the correct position.. after the test flight, the flag never popped out again.. thanks to the good old "tanod".. hehe.. hinubog ra cguro to iya.. but if its true, that PAF cant afford a brandnew instrument thats so important for navigation, how much more for any upgrades or modifications.. so sakto ghapon ka, its not doable.. hehe..

Excess vibration could be the reason for the mis-flagging of that gauge (apart from its old age). Guess where the excess vibration comes from. Then, try to imagine mounting all those sensitive instruments meant for the Spectre on a "shaky Herky"...sus porbida hahaha...maluoy ko sa instruments...bahala na ang tawo, maayo ang vibration sa lawas, murag vibra-massage hehehehehe
