JUPASKO says:::: will SHS AdC maintain its perfect record tonight? Will CEC's 3 wins to 1 loss record versus SHS AdC during last summer's tune up games be a sign of what's in store for tonight? Will SHS AdC play with a complete team? The Eagles' Ochea and Competente are with the JR. NBA camp in HongKong... Ang CEC naa ra isa ka YAP... ang SHS AdC naay GO, YU, ONG, LIM, TECSON, SING, TANCINCO (Cadavis), OCHEA (naay kuwarta in Chinese).... kinsa man jud sa ilang duha ang representative of the Chinese school sa Cebu?

    ONE BIG FIGHT Magis Eagles!!!

    Games today:
    Cebu Coliseum (Juniors)

    5:15 p.m. – DBC vs. USPF
    6:45 p.m. – SHS-AdC vs. CEC

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles gained some momentum heading to their much-awaited rematch with the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons after they blew past the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters, 94-55, in the juniors division of the Cesafi Sunday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Magis Eagles and the reigning champions Dragons are set to duke it out today with the former putting their undefeated 6-0 (win-loss) record on the line.

The two squads battled in the finals series last year with the Dragons completing a three-game sweep of the Magis Eagles for their first-ever title.

The romp over the Baby Webmasters was led by the 14 points each of reserve big men Mavii Suarez and Alexander Lim while Aaron Sing and Philippine Under-16 national team member Henry Asilum added 12 and 11, respectively.

The Dragons are currently at 5-1 and would like to complicate the top of the leaderboard with a win today. Leading the pack is the University of the Visayas (UV), which finished the first round with a 7-1 record.

CEC will be led by veteran center James Sumayang along with guards Luther Huevos, Marvin Bauya, Rex Villarosa and Alfred Sedillo.

Clash of high school titans: SHS-Ateneo Magis Eagles, CEC Dragons to rekindle rivalry in CESAFI tonight By Gabby G. Malagar (The Freeman) Updated September 06, 2011 12:00 AM Comments (0)

CEBU, Philippines - Unbeaten Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles and defending champion Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons will rekindle their brewing rivalry as they clash for the first time this season today in the secondary division of the 11th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball season at the Cebu Coliseum.

    Games today
    (Cebu Coliseum) Juniors

    5:15 pm DBTC vs. USPF
    6:45 pm SHS-AdC vs. CEC

Both teams came up with contrasting victories in their previous hardcourt duty last Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum. The Magis Eagles soared high with a 94-55 rout of the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters, while the Dragons came out strong in the fourth period to hack out 79-60 win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers.

Armed with a impressive 6-0 slate that eclipsed their record in their CESAFI comeback last year,

the Magis Eagles will try to settle that one-year old issue in tonight's grudge rematch between the two heavyweights in high school basketball.

The Magis Eagles had a woeful 0-2 start last year before picking up a win in their third try. Likewise, the Dragons fell to 1-1 early before sweeping all their games on the way to capture the juniors crown in a record feat for CEC.

The Sacred Heart-CEC duel also holds significant value as its outcome will determine who will emerge as the elimination round topnotcher.

In fact, the Baby Lancers are thrilled to see the game because a win by the Dragons would complicate the standings as it will result into a triple tie that might gave the UV bantams the best record after the first round.

This is because the Baby Lancers defeated the Dragons by 15 points, 62-47, but lost to the Magis Eagles by six points, 73-79.

With the departure of key players from both squads, there would be no crying over spilled milk for the Magis Eagles and the Dragons.

In the part of the Magis Eagles, most of their players went to their sister team Ateneo de Manila, while the Dragons have some of their players in exodus to the University of the East namely MVP Nike Montalvo, Benjamin James Zosa, Mark Olayon and Roy Vincent Villarias.

Meanwhile, the other results in last Sunday's games saw the USC Baby Warriors winning over the CIT-U Wildkittens, 70-59, and the USJ-R Baby Jaguars prevailing over the DBTC Junior Greywolves, 85-74. (FREEMAN)

Jupasko would like to add/slightly correct info in article:
Only one SHS AdC player is with Ateneo High School ~ Center Christopher Porter. Cris left SHS AdC after the 2009 season. He is in 4th year now, playing for 3rd place AHS in the UAAP high school basketball wars. From last year's SHS AdC team that placed second in the CESAFI, two are still playing high school ball with the San Beda Red Cubs, namely Adven Diputado and Reggie Abbu. Diputado is also a member of the under 16 RP team. Guard Arc Araw Araw of Talisay also transferred to the San Beda Red Cubs but he never played in CESAFI. Adrian Muller, Lance Co and Bradley Bacaltos are now in college.

Much-awaited match in new Cesafi season is CEC vs. SHS-Ateneo| More | By Edri K. Aznar

    Tuesday, September 6, 2011

ONE of the most anticipated basketball games in the 11th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. unfolds tonight at the Cebu Coliseum as defending high school division champions Cebu Eastern College Dragons clash with unbeaten Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles in a rematch of last year’s finals.

After a bad start in this year’s season, losing its debut match to league leader University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Green Lancers, CEC has been on a roll, winning its last six games. SHS-AdC, on the other hand, has not suffered a single loss and owns a victory over UV.

CEC bowed to UV, 62-47, while SHS-AdC escaped with a closely contested match with the Baby Green Lancers, 79-73.

    Twin victories

CEC and SHS-AdC won their games last Sunday impressively. The Dragons crushed the Rommel Diapera-led University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 79-60.

CEC was led by James Sumayang and Marvin Bauya, who scored 22 points each.

The Magis Eagles, on the other hand, still scored a lopsided 99-55 win over the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters despite missing the services of the top guns Dawn Ochea and Miguel Competente.

Ochea and Competente didn’t suit up for the squad last Sunday because both players were in Hong Kong playing for the Jr. NBA Philippine All-Star team. Without Ochea, Alexander Lim and Maverick Suarez stepped up with 14 points apiece.

CEC has a 5-1 record, while SHS-AdC is still perfect at 6-0.

    High school

In the other high school match, the USPF Baby Panthers locks horns with the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Graywolves.

Both squads are looking rebound after losing their previous matches last Sunday.

USPF was overwhelmed by CEC, 79-60, while DBTC was dumped by University of San Jose-Recoletos, 74-85.

USPF currently stands fourth with a 3-3 record, while DBTC is a notch below with a 2-4 slate.

The first game, USPF vs. DBTC, will start at 5:15 P.M. followed by the much anticipated clash between SHS-AdC and CEC at 6:45 P.M.
