what i learned from history is that every time several influential forces wants to advanced their agenda for complete control, disarming the citizens is one of them, usually packaged in a noble agenda, to prevent people from killing each other....

to kill yes, but at what reason?, if you generalize that all guns are bad, its the same thing that knife were made to kill, so we should ban the use of knife, or Cellphone are made to kill, coz it can cause brain damage, we should ban it....

if somebody threaten you family what would you do?, run?, good luck for they will be back or fight back? and repulse them and stop from coming back...

without guns we dont have peace (ironically), without guns we dont have freedom from the japanese when they invaded us, without guns our money from the bank will be lost...

consider the reason why the need of the gun and not the reason why it is made...

guns were made to maim, hurt, or kill, and this is a fact. it is also a fact that this is the only purpose that they were made, unlike knives and cellphones that have other uses. to what purpose guns are used, defines whether it should be used or not.

and this is the reason why i am not completely anti-gun, if you were able to infer that from my previous post. the necessity of putting a gun in a person's hand is real, whether faced with a foreign invasion, or for other reasons.

however, focusing on this makes us miss the big picture entirely. guns do save lives, but usually not the one at the end of the barrel. and when an entire country arms its entire citizenry, where will the barrels be pointed? will gunfire then be a common ambient noise like the barking of dogs?

the bigger picture is this: there is only one valid reason why the pro-gun communities want to arm the people. and this is simply because of our security forces' inability to control criminality. such reasoning is close to what vigilantes are bannering.

the solution then is not to arm the public, but to strengthen law enforcement, and solve the roots of criminality. instead of the simplistic solution of arming the citizenry that raises its own set of problems, the solution above is difficult, but doable. Netherlands did it. citizens are not allowed to carry guns, and their crime levels are so low they are closing down prisons.

taking that into account, the present situation that we have here in this country is different. and this is precisely the fodder for people who insist on carrying guns. and exclusively for this reason only, i cannot blame them.
