That's the common excuse for people like you saying "not to take the Bible literally" because that's what the church tells to all their flocks. i believe i have answered the Genesis "contradiction" that you are mentioning bro... murag halos kasunod ra jud to sa akong unang reply... quote lang nako ug balik, mao ni ang akong tubag bai:

The Bible was written by humans not GOD and they don't have proofs on their claims, so the book is fiction -- it's hard to tell the story in the Bible are true.

You're dodging my question on why Galileo was excommunicated by the church. Wasn't the church's doctrine was threatened by his discovery that the Earth revolves around the Sun?

Talking about the Bible, what GOD would kill his own people just because they dont want to follow him? That doesn't sounds like a god to me who advocates love. That sounds like a tyrant and evil abomanation.

As I said, the bible don't have proofs on their claims so it's not considered as THE TRUTH. Someone relying on bible about the truth are just showing the act of ignorance just because GOD says so, in other words, they're living in a lugubrious life. You have to understand that the original reason of the bible was to control the mases way back during the Dark Ages. It was a marketing tool by the Vatican. They even allied with the de Medicis for that.
