Cebu was ranked last year as number 7

THIS YEAR (2005), Cebu is still in the Top Ten Best Islands in the Asia-Pacific...

To add up to the fame, Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort and Spa was also voted Top Ten Best Resorts in Asia-Pacific... BORACAY was not even in the list!!!!!

Cebu is a city within an island..A friend of mine who's from Manila said to me once that he likes Cebu bec. the beaches are just a few miles away from the city! Unlike Manila daw kay u have to travel farther just to go tp the beach...if only Cebu will be the capital of the Phils., it will not take years to convert it into a MAJOR city!!! knowing most of the tax revenue will be allotted to it...mmmm, nicey jud!

Islands..... doesn't necessarily have to include the whole Philippines... Even Phuket was in the top list (and not Thailand itself)..

Is this tack go against the government's campaign to promote the entire country as a tourist destination? Why emphasize that Cebu is a separate island? Is this away to capture the entire tourism market to the exclusion of other equally desirable destinations within the Philippines.

Because if we are really sincere in developing our tourism industry I think it is but fair to package the entire country and not Cebu alone. Cebu is trying to start a competition within a country. Is this greed and selfishness?

hey, chill out bro!..we are just happy that our dear Cebu is part on the best islands list and doesn't mean we're forgetting the whole Phils. ...i think this is one way of encouraging other cities (in the phils.) that it's still possible to be on the list..

whatever Cebu achieves, the whole country benefits the prestige!
