    Lightbulb Subbed!

Personally, I prefer it to be subbed rather than dubbed since I'd rather hear the anime in its original bells and whistles. I've compiled a list below on why I support subbing over dubbing...

    1. Most dubbers aren't faithful in their rendition (although subbers have their share of this flaw too) which destroys my over-all viewing pleasure.
    2. Subbing helps us get some Japanese culture. It's actually even more fun to mimic some memorable lines from animes.
    3. Well, it helps linguists get a job as translators and eventually become better professional subbers in their own right. Most DVD packages bear the mark of their painstaking translations as optioned by the publishing rights and other complex marketing arrangements between the translators and the mother company releasing the anime in DVD box sets.
    4. I associate dubbing with Saban-izing... it's quite an annoying fact, really. But there are a few animes that come out really good with English dubbing, the Rurouni Kenshin (or Samurai X) anime is a noteworthy exemption. I don't know, for me, dubbing an anime destroys its 'essence'.
    5. Subbing is a bit easier to do (for us amateurs) than dubbing (which, of course, requires a decent recording studio or let alone come up with an innovative way to do it with the current softwares).
