I went to both places (Bantayan Island and Malapascua) last year. I didn't enjoy Malapascua simply because I am not a diver. Yes, Malapascua is best for divers. But for the beach (shoreline), I won't recommend it because of the sea grass (abundant). For Bantayan Island, try sugar beach, sta. Fe Beach Club (but it's near the port), kota beach, yoneek and budyong the sand is white and fine. Other beach in Bantayan are also with sea grass which is a hassle while swimming. In short I like their beach (side of sugar down to sta fe beach club) more than Malapascua. Just beware that during lenten season, you have to book in advance as early as December as they are really fully booked. I have to warn you NOT to book at Moby Dick. I was fooled by the owner of this resort, which is really far from the beach proper. I paid full for 3day and 2 nights accommodation (internet booking, I was deceived by the pictures) but when we got there it looks like an isolated resort. The pool looks like a garbage area. There is no swimming area around the area (looks like manila bay but doesn't smell like though). When we decided not to stay there Barry Deeney never refund a single cent to me. So don't believe his website. Good thing ticketyboo has a vacant room but it's far from the party area only during lenten season) but they have billiards, karaoke bar which they have live band too every weekend an soon they will have a swimming pool (maybe before december). So my advise is never believe advertisement from websites, search for forums or blogs.

Please post the PROS and CONS...
Haven't been to Banatayan, but I am planning to this year or summer of 2009.

For Malapascua...I like the place, and the serenity, last time murag 2001 to...been there
4-5 time, better at least 2 nights ka didto and swim a lot, when I went there, the sea was cold
during the day and warm during the night , and at that time, our sky view was ovelapping Cebu
with endless lightning spectacle, grabe very humbling experience......
