22 / 8 = 2 remainder 6
so 22 is 26
for .22
0.22 * 8 = 1.76 = 1
0.76 * 8 = 6.08 = 6
0.08 * 8 = 0.64 = 0
0.64 * 8 = 5.12 = 5
so 22.22 in decimal is 26.1605 in octal.

I think ang tuldok is called a decimal point on the decimal system, so the one for the octal system should be called an OCTAL POINT?![]()

For you to understand the multiplication on the decimal, you need to understand how the number systems work.
Example you have 22 stones. For decimal system we group them in multiples of ten. Its that way cause we have 10 symbols(0-9) representing the system. so for base 10, you group 22 stones by 10. you will have two piles of 10 each and 2 remaining stones on the last pile. hence the representation of 22 for the 22 stones you got.
Now, with still 22 stones, now for example you only have 8 symbols(0-7) representing your number system, in short you can only count to as high as 7 before going back to 0. so you need to group the stones in multiples of 8. you will end up with 2 piles of 8 each and 6 on the last pile, hence the 22 stones is being represented by the 26 on the octal system.
Now for the numbers after the decimal point, for the decimal system those numbers are grouped by fractions of 10. but for the octal system it will need to be in fractions of 8, so you will need to multiply the fraction of 10 with 8 to get its fraction with 8. I don't know if im making sense to you. I will try and think of a good example for you.
