I think the last post should be in a separate thread. No relation to this thread whatsoever. This thread is for the plight of callcenter employees, not the growth of the callcenter industry.

If the callcenter industry grew at the EXPENSE of the employees, then I presume they are not a bit concerned.

Picture this, the pyramids of Egypt were huge and magnificent because of the bondaged Israelites and the credit went to the Egyptians and the Israelites would curse at the sight of each pyramid.

I'll just skip the details in relation to the BPO or EPZA industry because this was already discussed in a separate thread but basically the principle is the same.

The day UNIONS set shop in the call centers, there will be mass exodus. They can just move to India for all they care. Kinsa'y luoy? Ang unemployed Filipino.
i kinda agree with you... there is positive side also in having a union...

what we are doing here is to discuss the face and the structure of what really a call center industry is and how the labor union is relevant to it..

maybe you should try to chew more, so that you could digest better..

Of course because we are beggars and we can be pushed around since birth. In short they can do whatever they want with us as long as they feed us. It may not be slavery or prostitution but the principle is the same. It is a higher form of mendicancy and is highly encouraged by the government because they cannot solve this problem.

"So come to our islands joe and rape our country and our people!" ...and we should love it, YEAH!
and while you're at it.. don't just rape us rape us.. rape us in the ass.. that would be the YEAH!

..the problem with filipinos is they are so self-righteous. filipinos are NEVER practical and NEVER realistic. These call centers are here and have given jobs to the people who have a hard time in looking for a decent job. The under-graduates are now employed. Why cant you people be happy with that. Dont be so self righteous. Be practical and realistic

...and to add some more. the disabled are able to have jobs. in call centers, you only need to have a good voice and a high degree of adaptability. once again people. BE REALISTIC....

sorry. i know lot of agents terminated by a call center located somewhere in manda. they were terminated, because tey were accused of something basing on gossips. the administration was able to secure "evidence", but the said evidence that they pressented were not substantial. and the termination was illegal, because those people were regular employees and some are supervisors. illegal in the sense that there was no substantial evidence and substantial policy/regulation that supports the allegation of the administration. there were no due process made. some agents were terminated and some were forced to resign.

some of the agents who fought for their rights escalated the issue to DOLE and the proper court, and they won. as of the moment most of the old agents of that call center resigned even if they were not part of those agents who were being accused, because they were fed up of the administration who used to be great but turned out to be hell. i tried to go back there and i could hardly see old faces anymore who used to be my smoking buddies.....
