Not just those not so subtle remarks but also the time or place to extend one's appreciation of the performance.

Maybe someone can start a thread "Theater Decorum - Audience Ethics Inside the Theater", stickied, and locked for specific groups of people to update. Some people online are also too lazy to backread.

I recently re-experienced this last weekend when I attended a play produced by the theater guild of a local university.

I think what could be done is that these LIT, FIL and SPEECH instructors who are making their classes go and attend these plays by selling them the tickets should also hold short orientations on proper theater etiquette for the benefit of their students before making them attend as audience...

Though sometimes, these sort of behavior can be provoked, especially by weakly-produced plays.

However there is this old theater maxim, "No reaction is a bad reaction. Any reaction is a good reaction."

It's spontaneous, extemporaneous, hilarious and fun!

It's S.P.I.T-- Silly People's Improv Theater! Manila's premiere improv comedy group that's coming to Cebu this February 20, thanks to Little Boy Productions!

Spontaneity is the name of SPIT’s game. Expect no fancy costumes, set design and cinematic storylines. Anything under the sun can be turned into something unscripted and fun.

SPIT is an un-scripted play, interactive presentation where the audience could pitch all sorts of nouns (names, places, occupations, dreams, objects) upon facilitators' solicitation, and the SPIT troupe makes use of them randomly, sing some songs about them or insert them in their SPITserye.

If you followed the "Whose Line is It Anyway?" shows, similar impromptu elements explodes in a SPIT performance.

SPIT discourages green innuendos and crass language, actually believing and reveling in the most wholesome for the most hilarity.
