what a week for ateneo! ONE BIG FIGHT!!!
if i'm not mistaken, ADMU also scored a senior-junior double in the 87-88 UAAP season. ADMU first played in the UAAP in 1978, not 1977...

moduwa na ang ateneo sa PBL kay gisugtan na sa school provided matarong ilang grades. the thing that really makes me proud about ateneo's basketball program is that it never tries to compromise the students' academics because of basketball. being an athlete always comes secondary to being a student. they are, after all, student-athletes and not athlete-students...

    Eagles cleared to join Hapee

    Sunday, October 5, 2008

The best of the triumphant Ateneo Blue Eagles will now have a chance to play with Jervy Cruz and the Hapee Toothpaste Complete Protectors in the Philippine Basketball League which starts tentatively Oct. 25.

Ateneo athletic director Ricky Palou yesterday told The STAR Ateneo hotshots Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Chris Tiu and several members of the team may now suit up for Hapee as long as they all have passing grades and personally want to play.

Hapee team manager Bernard Yang welcomed the development but stressed the final decision would still come from franchise owner and former PBL chair Cecilio Pedro.

“We haven’t received official communication yet from Ateneo but if it’s true that’s good news,” said Yang. “But still, everything will depend on how our boss (Pedro) would take it after what happened.”

Yang said Pedro and some top Hapee officials were disappointed when Ateneo suddenly pulled out its players just as they were about to announce their official tie-up in last week’s rookie draft at the league office in Mandaluyong City.

Palou said he would know tomorrow who among the Eagles are ready to suit up for the Complete Protectors.
“For sure everything would be final on Monday,” said Palou.

If things finally work out fine, this would mean Al-Hussaini, the reigning UAAP MVP, would play side by side with last year’s MVP Cruz along with crowd favorite Tiu and 2008 Finals MVP Nonoy Baclao. – Joey Villar

^^ i think is dili jud ang whole ateneo team but sa individual player's decision na... kay studies is the priority... for me, mas nahan ko ang majority of the ateneo to suit up hapee... kay dugay na wala ma champion ang hapee... the last championship crown they have was during the rich alvarez, wesley gonzales, larry fonacier time...
