Default Re: OFWs hurt by strong Philippine peso

whether the peso is strong or weak is moot. The value of the peso is only really significant if we are talking about the exchange in import and export. What is important for the common folk is the domestic prices...Why the h*ll has it not changed after the value of the peso has apparently become greater (as evidenced by the peso becoming stronger). I don't really care if the peso is weak or not, it doesn't matter--as long as the cost of living is affordable. Mao bitawng ingon ko, currency strength is a poor indication of economic pulse. Mao nay tinuod Economics 101. What the heck are you gonna do if you the peso reaches 20 to 1, if the price is stagnant when it was 40 to 1?

    Wow! Bullseye sir!

Among many others, mao sad na akong pangutana baya.
In fact , the weakening of the dollar is not actually the main issue here but it's the impact brought by this not just to oFW's or common pinoy worker-minimum wage earners but in the entire Philippine economy as a whole.
As an OFW, my opinion to this is ...we're not "HURT" as the literal hurt gyud but dili mi magpakaipokrita by saying na dili mi apektado. At a certain degree, it did affect our budget.

One thing, I would like to reiterate here and I know other OFW's will also join me as we say...WE NEVER PRAY FOR A WEAKENING PESO at all as i've mentioned in my previous post, domino effect ra gehapon ang resulta definitely dili makadato namo OFW.

    Rock on OFW's...

What some people here are missing is this: If a strong currency is good for the country, why the hell is China trying so hard to keep the Yuan weak? I'm pretty sure they aren't dumb.

It is never moot when it is the very subject of this discussion here. To accept your premise that it is moot is akin to stepping off the bus and taking another vehicle of discussion.

Economics 101 or XYZ is a whole stupid neural exercise beyond simplistics analyses of one factor affecting another. It is a lot more complicated than your exchange rates fluctuations manifesting immediate and corresponding changes in the various market forces involved.

The OFW looks at the ripples of economics oceans through the waves of exchange rates. Its underlying currents flows deeper, and the prices, cost of living you are talking about, will take its own changes in accordance to its own complex agenda.
