just want to add this is little bit O.T but related gihapon nes topic..
why filipino ddnt support our own movies or local movie industry....... in some words why we dont buy our own products?
just becouz tagalog and very baduy to wacht?
Not necessarily. Look at pagdadalaga ni maximo oliveros. Its a novelty. And also the good ole days of Lino Brocka films. We were at the zenith of cinema creativity at that time.
Its just nowadays big time producers just stick on the tried nd tested formula. Filipinos crved for more. They are actully bored of traditional films. Thts why most people patronize foreign films. Theres more innovativeness and originality.
it's not only that producers are using tried-and-tested formulas, it's just that producers are asking tried-and-tested directors and writers to come up with blockbusters, but for some of these guys I believe have already passed their peak and desperately need a break, they're as over exposed as today's current TV/matinee idols.
Independent films are turned down because the MMFF has a certain criteria in the selection of films-- besides Manila has the Cinemanila for that anyway.
What we do in life echoes throughout eternity~ Please support your lokal artists and their efforts to promote the Cebuano identity and culture!
me request this threa be merge with the MMFF thread, woot!
uhhmmm....GLOBALIZATION is the issue here....
whywatch a pinoy films youhave the choice to watch better foreign films...
Maximo Oliveros rocks though...
People are getting tired of rich boy meets poor girl, action star wears a jacket during summer and does a sing and dance number on the beach formula. in a recent talk given by Peque Gallaga at STC, he said that it is time to treat the masa to better movies.Originally Posted by monrose29
