@v2s13, i think sayop na ga thinking nag magpa extension ka para mo mubo ang wire...remember kana ang gi extension is still telephone wire...
Dili man extension na extension wire gkan sa phone. didto man sa PLDT box( kana gkan sa tauran sa main line) ko nag pa extension. Ni bayad rko sa lineman para mo taod for free na wla nko bayran monthly bills sa PLDT. bwahahaha
still the same...the lineman uses wires and it has attenuation loss but it dont think it will affect ur internet speed essentially...

bro, amplitude refers to strength of signal, and length of wire affects amplitude because of attenuation. (attenuation is the weakening of the strength of signal.)
with respect to your original question, on speed, length of the wire affects speed also since, putting it very simply, the longer the wire the longer the time it will take the signal to travel from one point to another (although, in theory, speed loss is a result of combination of several factors such as the type, diameter, and yes, length of cable used).
but as i've said in my previous, this should not be a problem to you. man, that's only 40ft, not 40 kilometers!![]()
