I've seen and experienced it. Yes call centers and ESL. Some that are practicing are those who have plans to go abroad, for experience.
lol grabeha I wasn't counting back then though and I am not a Nurse. unya karon daghan na sad graduate sa med school, they are those who can't pursue their Nursing Career, specially students coming from CDU & Velez College. Daghan na pd ni doctors tugpa as corporates, faculty and moonlighters. In fact, 3 close friends are moonlighting GPs as of now kay puno ang residency pirmi and since pilian man, moonlight nlng sa. 1 of the 3 is a faculty member sa CIM because walay opening sa Surgery Residency mag cge ra ug atang while the other 2 are contemplating for USMLE qualifiers para maka kuha ug residency program sa US. These men are MDs na, how much more sa Nurses? But then, naa nay hope gamay kay tag 1 block nlng ang mo graduate sa Nursing degree and it helps a lot for future Nurses.

One way of increasing a Nurse's pay is to take a Masters with thesis specially in Public Health and Geriatrics. CI who have higher education and at least 3 years of hosp exp gets around 30. Deans and Department Chairs also gets 30 and above + workshops with honorariums. But Nurse managers and Hosp Heads are getting more + workshops and invitations. MDs on other hand even if nag moonlight lang, can easily get 7k per week. If they are diplomates, one can expect near 6 figures. If they are well known expect bigger. A TCVS can get 150k-180k per case and an average of 4-5 cases a month even if di pa kaayo ilado, pero ang ilado? sisiw nlng na nila ang 1M/month. In the US, $600K per annum is an average for a senior consultant of TCV surgery department in a secondary hospital, so pila kaha kung tertiary na.

But I believe madayun ni nga increase kang Du30 nga panahon pero with a minimum of 4 years hospital exp and 1 year equivalent public outreach.

Sad truth. Nurses in the Philippines are being exploited, they are overworked yet underpaid. Useless senators are being paid how much (??) by just sitting and being an ornament in the senate, while the nurses save lives.

Nurses from the Philippines are valued worldwide yet in our homeland, the Philippines they are unjustly treated.

Maayo pa nuon si Inday, free board and lodging + meals with benefits pa.

The opportunities for Filipino nurses are vast overseas and its value to our economy is exponential. But we have lost the battle and the war, not because we lack the supply of nurses but because of our government's failure to see it from the global and local points of view.

because nursing had become a trend-profession... karon na nga ni burst na ang bubble sa nursing sector... agi sad mi ani sa IT when the internet bubble burst during early 2000 daghan kaayo nawagtangan ug trabaho and end up doing other things not related sa ila course... atleast sa IT naka bounce back lang tungod sa BPO... until karon IT still endure from that internet bubble burst...

I want the healthcare system to die and rebuild and follow the UK system instead of the US. An example of it is a nurse who I dearly know of, one that is part of the few who knows how to read EKG, Lab Results Interpretation, Prescription of Medicine and 3rd level of Intervention Nursing Scheme but still underpaid, for me.

There are many things i disagree with Pnoy, but he is definitely right on this one. Me (non practicing) and my wife (practicing)are nurses so anyone would think it would be counter intuitive for us to be against the increase in nurses wage. We all want to have higher wages, no doubt. But no matter how we romanticize our work, it could not avoid the consequences of economic forces. Let's try a thought experiment and imagine we can use the LAW to artificially inflate the wages of nurses. What would happen?
    PRO:
    1. higher income for the EMPLOYED nurses (if you will be lucky)
    2. Increase employment retention

    Con:
    1. Hospitals will need to CUT on nursing employment to accommodate the higher wages (Budget is a pain in the a$$) resulting in...
    2. lesser nurse to patient ratio
    3. limited opportunities for neophyte nurses to acquire experience
    4. Price increase in medical bills
    5. Hospitals may completely downsize their operations rippling unemployment to other types of hospital staff

Wages should be "controlled" by supply and demand only. At the end of the day, any worker from any industry can always find ways to improve his income. It is his responsibility afterall.
