I can say sea travel is different from land travel based from experience with our rottweiler - Thor is his name by the way. I raised him as an outdoor friend. As young as 5 months, he was already travelling with the family. He went with us in a van from Laguna to Baguio and back in one of our summer trips to north. Regular tricycle trip when going to his vet.
He is all normal and fine in land trip. It all changed when we traveled him to Cebu. It was his first on sea. He threw up on deck a few times and was irritable for the last half of the voyage. It was a big help that he has a good vet back in Laguna. She (the vet) prescribed Thor motion sickness pills that I have to administer hours before boarding and after every few hours for the duration of the voyage.
Few years ago, amo sya gdala when we went island hopping sa Cebu. Naa lang gyapon motion sickness but not as worse as the first time. Magsige na kuyog langoy.
You mean feeding plan when on travel? I feed him light before the trip. It was 18 long hours for him from Manila to Cebu. Maintain water. Then small amount of food every few hours or when he wants to until the end of voyage. Being full while on travel will just worsen his condition.
In your case, just more than an hour from Cebu to Bohol so no need to worry about feeding plan. Let your chow eat light before trip. when you arrive at Bohol, let her rest and restore her regular diet. This is just my suggestion. The best advise has still to come from your vet.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip with your Chow.
if you are traveling in the morning, i suggest your last feeding would be at night. don't feed him/her anymore the morning of your trip. but provide water always especially with the heat now. if you are afraid of motion sickness or discomfort, there is a product called 'Pet Ease' its by Nutrivet and its chewable. it should be available in most pet shops and vet clinics.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge @mypetstation and @Tamblot. I really appreciate it. I have an idea what to do now.
