being late not even his own doing was not the real reason. but how he reasoned out to the succeeding professor on why he was 2 mins late

But the PMA Honor Committee found Cudia, according to Annavee, to have lied because instead of saying that they were made to wait in their previous class, he said that their professor dismissed them late.

Kun ang 2 minutes nga late ra mao ang rason, maayo pa ila na lang na pasaylo-on ug pa-graduaron. Mao ra man gihapon kay ug ma-opisyal na mag lie ra man gihapon, dinagko pa hinoon. Kay kun magmatinud-anon sa honor code diha na unya sa serbisyo, tipi ra man gihapon, pareha sa nahitabo kang Ensign Philip Pestaño.

I believe wala na. Kay kung naa pa, then the PMA public affairs chief also lied to the public, a violation to their Honor Code.

2 minutes late (tardiness) eventually made him to lie, these are two separate violations with two separate punishments. out of these two, only the latter (lying), a grave offense, has the punishment of dismissal. the first (tardiness) has a tolerable punishment under the PMA Graybook. Rules are enforceable while cadets are still in the PMA, this has nothing to do when they are outside PMA (when they graduate).

Wait, so instead of saying that the professor asked him to stay behind, he said he was dismissed late? And for that, they consider it a lie? Are you freaking kidding me?! Wrong choice of words, maybe, but it's the same freaking thing! The guy's studying to be military, not a language professor. The intent behind the words is the same, so how is it a lie?

    this.. especially this!

This lie (according to the academy) was a little misunderstanding, miscommunication, or just wrong use of words.

    Why are you late?
    >we were dismissed late.
    Why are you dismissed late?
    >i was asked to wait after class.
    YOU LIE!!!!! PERMA BAN!!!!

    @Syd_M, @jiro

    scenario 1 (lie):

previous professor: okay class dismissed, but you need to stay for a while since I have to give something
after few minutes cadet cudia going to his next class...
next professor: cadet cudia, why you are 2 mins late?
cadet cudia: im sorry sir, we were dismissed late from previous class.
next professor accepted cadet cudia's apology but punishment still imposed due to tardiness regardless of any reason
afterwards, the next professor asked the previous professor to confirm cadet cudia's statement and found out that he was lying.
    conclusion: cadet cudia was lying

    scenario 2 (not lie):

previous professor: okay class dismissed, but you need to stay for a while since I have to give something
after few minutes cadet cudia going to his next class...
next professor: cadet cudia, why you are 2 mins late?
cadet cudia: i'm sorry sir, we were made to wait from previous class since our previous professor give something to us that's why i'm late in your class.
next professor accepted cadet cudia's apology but punishment still imposed due to tardiness regardless of any reason
afterwards, the next professor asked the previous professor to confirm cadet cudia's statement and found out that he was NOT lying.
conclusion: cadet cudia was not lying as it was confirmed by the previous professor

mao na ilang rules..period! sa atong mga civilian harsh ra kaayo but military mana sila mao jud na, unsay ingon sa cadre mao na..tilap kag lubot sa kabaw dapat tilap ka..kamang kag ta3 kamang ka..mao na for fainted-hearted...if di nimo kaya ayaw sulod!

@cliff_drew; The only difference there is one of semantics. Cudia said he was late because he was dismissed late. The professor said Cudia was late because he was detained for a while, even though class was technically dismissed on time. The practical results of both scenarios are the same: Cudia was late because of the professor. From Cudia's point of view, he was dismissed late. A lie? The only real crime Cudia is guilty of is not choosing the right language.
