Smuggling should be welcomed by consumers as prices of goods tend to be more affordable... goods costs higher because of the tariffs placed on it without bringing any added value to consumer experience.

kusug ang smuggling kay dili man ta producer.
ato governo wala gyud plano mo invest ug daghan factory or pobre lang gyud atong nasod.
ang maka afford ug import maoy ray ma bulahan ug silay pay mag boot sa market selling price.
sila pay mag boot unsa nga ordinansa e pasa national gov't or lgu tungod kay maka afford sila.
ampo ta puhon nga naa daghan factory para ma producer ta
saon man matud pa ni Juan dela Cruz pobre gyud ta oi hehehehehe
kung bugas, mo mahal man tingali if walay smuggled rice nga nakalusot sa market...law of supply and demand.
smuggled or not, bottomline is BIG profit in the eyes of our businessmen.
if puede mag smuggle, why not...naa dinha ang dakong ginansya...daku kaayo nga ginansya.
we dont care about our government earning, we care for ourselves...profit for ourselves.
smuggling? it means greed to everybody connected to it!
.
In a free port system like Hong Kong, there'd almost be no such thing as smuggling. I think smuggling is rampant in the Philippines, because we're using tariffs the wrong way and in effect unknowingly restrict what are otherwise useful goods in our economy. Tariffs are supposed to be measures to protect local industries which can't compete globally, but our government is using this as just another revenue-generator.
Government would always deem things illegal when they get no cut from your venture. It used to be that LOTTO was illegal but then the government started running that show and it's no longer illegal. There's just way too much government interference in our economy and in our lives, if you ask me. That's probably the reason why we see quite a sizeable underground economy...businesses that wouldn't otherwise be profitable if they operated above board.
Ang recent saka sa presyo sa rice tungod ni sa pag dakop sa millions of tons sa rice sa mindanao last year... tapos giluto dayun sa customs ug local rice millers ug distributors... taas presyo. Gi rebag ug lain2x rice brands. Ang cheap imported rice, na confiscate sa customs, then rebag to popular brands with increased price...if walay customs, lusot ang "smuggled rice", increased supply, popular local brands forced to compete, lower price for rice across the board, affordable for less income people.
I dont believe in protecting local industries... the net effect of that is consumers forced to pay higher price for what could have been a cheaper product. Instead of local industries trying to be efficient to compete, they lobby on government to disadvantage cheaper imports.
i-open na lang na ang ports nato...
imported products no tariffs/duties.
adto na ipatong inig palit nato. lig-onon lang ang reporting sa sales/purchase records. para dili matikas ang collection.
of course, walay tariff/duty if local ang product.
ang nakalisod sa gobyerno kay sigurista...mangayo daan sa bahin.
unya greedy pa gyud, nangayo na daan sa bahin, mangayo pa gyud ug tax sa seller ug buyer.
People crucify smugglers... i used to share the same sentiments... however, when i tried to dissect the facts, i appreciate smugglers far more than politicians... these smugglers analyze unsatisfied needs of different markets, then they invest and risk their capital to bring cheap imported products to the consumers. Not saying that smugglers are benevolent people, these people are just as greedy as we are... but in their means of serving their self interest, many people benefit as well from affordable goods... an indirect consequence is that branded local products may cut down prices or forego price increase due to the presence of smuggled products... competition makes evrything better for consumers in the long run.
