Activate Windows 8 by Phone
in my case dili man to updated akong Windows 8 when I upgraded to Windows 8.1
kay ako man na restore to factory settings (had problems with metro Tiles), then installed some drivers and a virtual drive software.
I did not upgrade thru Windows store but instead downloaded the Windows 8.1 ISO (for backup copy purposes) following a guide here
How to download the official Microsoft Windows 8.1 ISO | How To - CNET
I did not burn the ISO but instead just extracted the file on my desktop then run the set-up from there.
upon installation, I was prompted to go online for updates and compatibility.
The update itself took less than a minute, so i reckon murag less than 1 mb rato.
afterwards it listed the incompatible softwares w/c prevented the upgrading process.
In my case it was the bluetooth PC suite driver and Daemon mount tools.
There were other issues listed but it was stated nga I can continue w/ the installation w/o fixing those issues.
So I just uninstalled the bluetooth PC suite drivers and Deamon Tools.
then after reboot proceeded w/ the installation,
katong other compatibilty issues ni-appear lang gihapon but upgrading to Windows 8.1 proceeded w/o a hitch.
Installed office 2013 afterwards then activated both Windows 8.1 and Office via phone.
IMPORTANT
upon successful activation make a backup of your Activation with this tool here
OPA-Backup - Backup and restore the product activation of Microsoft Office
it restored my office 2013 activation about 2 days ago when i stupidly experimented with changing my Office 2013 product key.
