I get your point bro. However, I don't really think it is not right to consider this public awareness. Public Awareness can be a form of FEAR or RELIEF to the public.

Why I say so? Because there are some situations that every citizens concerned should know about. Whether they like it or not, these guys are focusing on Call Center Agents now as target. There is no such thing as relief on that fact.

Anyway's, we are not here to argue whether this is public awareness or media nonsense, all I can say is sorry for the loss of that man. Darn to the cruel man who killed someone who's protecting only what he owns.
