looks interesting![]()
I just went to see it . It was AMAZING !!!
My favourite part is when Eponine started singing "On My Own" on a rainy night (which is something not specified on the musical staging) . It shows how her whole life was like being in the cold rain .
And now I'm all alone again
Nowhere to turn, no one to go to
Without a home, without a friend,
Without a face to say hello to.
And now the night is near
Now I can make believe he's here.
The only relief to keep herself being happy is imagining that she and Marius are lovers . But Marius turns out having an interest on Cosette .
She's part of the rebellion not only because of Marius but she didn't like how France is becoming -- the rigid class system . Most everyone in France were in the lower class . Many people were starving . Everyone were robbing houses . Eponine even begged to her father not to rob the house where Valjean and Cosette lives and that shows that she didn't like how the country is becoming .
Then when she was shielding Marius and got shot . Again ... it's raining on this scene by the time she got shot and the intro for A Little Fall of Rain .
The rain can't hurt me now
This rain will wash away what's past
She's saying that she will no longer be in emotional pain as she's sleeping in Marius' embrace at last . She's hoping that "the rain will make the flowers grow" which we should translate that she's hoping that there will be a positive outcome out of this rebellion . We all know it's not always the case that the rain will make the flowers grow , sometimes the rain will wash away those vulnerable flowers . The ending of the battle (see June Rebellion) suggest that it's the latter .
What I like about Lea Salonga's voice kay di pareha kay Lea Michelle. Nice sad ang iya diction and enunciation.. English major nako kuno ko oh..hahaha
I have read the novel, twice (abridged and unabridged) in english. I liked it, pero wa pa ko kita sa musical. Quite excited to watch..
to watch in theater or wait for the DVD release...hmmmmffff.

istoryans...just an update!
wala na gyud nako na pug-ngan akong self. I wanted to restrain myself and promised to watch Les Miserables on the big screen (come this wednesday Jan 16), but...but....but....as I was walking towards Mercury Drug Fuente I passed by the pirated DVD vendors...and there it WAS! Right in the middle of my sight, LES MISERABLES on DVP rip.
Should I? should I not? Should I risk it? Is it worth my impatience? Will I be dissapointed? ? ?
So I went home, then I opened the dvd box as if I was a 5 year old that was super EXCITED to open my Christmas present.... 2 hours past, and the movie ended!
And I should say...... C'est une âme en mouvement et que c'est un film tout à fait remarquable! (It is a soul moving and it's an very remarkable film!) Watch it! Di mo mag mahay....

saw it over the weekend. Out of all the performances from any actor in the movie, I found Russel Crowe to be the most fitting for his character of Javert. Despite all the knockers saying about these actors attempts in singing, I say the cast did an exceptional job.
