As you are newbies, always, always work with a contract. This is for your mutual security, both the developers (for you, the assurance that the client will pay the agreed amount, considering the work specified in the contract, para dili na mag usob usob) and for the client (he will be assured that you and your team will not leave without finishing the project)

It should specify the features, capabilities and limitations of the program. Also, make a project timeline so the client will know what to expect and when he can expect it. Calculate the time you spent on creating the program and the money spent on utilities when working on it (e.i. electricity). Then work from there. I am not saying 200k dayun inyo singlon sa client. You need to calculate it yourself.

too risky basin kamo pay madaot... if you really insist in making a contract better asked somebody like a season contractor...

its better inyo siya storyahon... diskarte lang gud nga you want to make a contract sa deal... if ok siya but same ra ang rate... diri lang ninyo sa contract bawion... like remove some features or remove the support sa system... pero ayaw mog backout diretso kay even word of mouth ra ang agreement... mahug na nga unprofessional mo... and you will never know what will happen...

you dont get experience by reading books... you get it by doing something and learning from it... either success or mistakes... even you can make a system just dont stop believing that you can do it...

so words of advice lang sa mga plano mo dawat ug mga ing-ani nga trabaho... this is my formula

    1. Make a contract
      a) Layout all the features and requirements for the task
      b) If; You are not sure about the task, do a feasibility study or a research to get you oriented with the technology the task uses, always one step ahead of your client.
      c) Dont do anything that is not included in the contract, stipulate it on the contract that you can withdraw from the contract at anytime with enough justification of the reasons.
      d) Include a Non Deuce-Bag errr Disclosure Agreement (i know its the other NDA... hehehe)
      e) Support will voided at the event the system is modified by any other person.
    2. Always asked for 50% DP (not the other DP ), A car needs a gas to operate, you know, it should be non-refundable incase the client backs-out
    3. Time and Task Management
    4. Always talk to your client, give them updates regularly, it gives them a sense of security that you guys are not running away from the obligation and also to protect you from legal implications
    5. Do your task in phases, its not a race.
    6. If your client asked for a features that is not included on the first agreed features, Don't do it, seriously dont do it, just tell your client it will be on the next phase of the development, dont go astray on your current phase. If its a bug, fixed it, its not a new feature anyway.
    7. Be open-minded there are lot of deuce-bag clients out there, if you think they are stepping beyond the line, then quit (see #1c)
    8. Dont be a YES person, learn to say NO, in a good and professional way
    9. Be professional always keep your words, before making any commitment always make sure that you are up for the task.
    10. Enjoy what you are doing, if not dont do it.

Based on my experience, being a software developer is not just a developer itself but a technopreneur in mind. You should have marked up the price besides having a computations of your electricity and etc being consumed. Unsaon man nimo pag ginansya na igo ra pud ibayad sa utility bill ug uban pang expenses imo basihan.
