Llamados’ fate rests on Bowles, Simon

    Game Wednesday
    (Araneta Coliseum)

    6:45 p.m. Talk ‘N Text vs. B-Meg

IMPORT Denzel Bowles and Peter Jun Simon are again expected to lead B-Meg Llamados over defending champion Talk ‘N Text Wednesday in Game 2 of the best-of-seven titular series of the 37th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioners’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The 6’0” Bowles and the 6’1” shooting guard Simon combined for 43 points in B-Meg’s 88-82 win over the Tropang Texters last Monday to take a 1-0 upper hand in the finals.

But even as the Llamados are getting the momentum, the Tropang Texters are expected to level the pressure when they collide at 6:45 p.m.

“B-Meg is really a deep team and I am just learning how to use that depth. But to win back-to-back, it takes a special effort. I’ve always felt that the loser will always bounce back strong,” said the 13-time champion B-Meg coach Tim Cone.

Coach Chot Reyes of Talk ‘N Text blamed their poor shooting from the charity line for their defeat, saying if they had shot well, they could have won the game.

“Two words: free throws. You cannot win a game if you missed those free throws. If we only converted at least 50 percent of what we missed, we could have won by two points,” stressed Reyes referring to their 20-of-36 attempts from the line.

Simon, a 43rd overall pick by Purefoods in 2001, said that at least the triangle-offense of Cone is now working well with the Llamados.

“Ang Triangle Offense kasi, equal-opportunity offense. Hindi nagtatagal ang bola sa isang tao at nagkataon maganda ang shooting ko. I will just work in the triangle offense because in that system everybody has a chance to step-up,” said Simon, who average 51.4 percent from the field, one of only five with at least 50 percent field goals average.

here's a perfect example of TNT lopsided trade:
On May 12, 2010, the Tropang Texters closed a three-team, nine-player deal that gave them Williams and Reyes, the 2008 Rookie of the Year, along with Charles Waters, Williams’ brother-in-law. The Realtors received Ali Peek, Nic Belasco, Pong Escobal, and a first round draft pick from the Tropang Texters. The third team in the deal, Barako Coffee, sent Yousif Aljamal and Ogie Menor to Sta. Lucia, and received Mark Isip from the Realtors in return.
A few months later, Sta. Lucia sold its PBA franchise to Meralco, which is controlled by the Manuel V. Pangilinan group that also owns Talk ‘N Text.

    unsay say nimo ana?

Castro helps TNT tie Commissioner's Cup title series with B-MEG (April 26,

Jason Castro, ineffective in the finals opener, made the shots that mattered most to help Talk 'N Text escape with a 104-102 win over B-MEG to tie their best-of-seven title series in the 37th PBA Commissioner's Cup Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Castro, with the Llamados holding on to a 99-94 lead with one minute and 38 seconds remaining, scored six straight points including the three-pointer that gave the Tropang Texters the lead for good at the 35-second mark of the fourth.

Both teams exchanged misses in a 20-second span with B-MEG import Denzel Bowles committing a costly turnover that could have changed the outcome of the match.
