Thread: BBC Sherlock

Apparently, BBC Sherlock is so successful that US TV network CBS began developing the show Elementary, its own modern Sherlock Holmes. Johnny Lee Miller was cast as Sherlock and Lucy Liu was cast as John Joan Watson.

Elementary will see Holmes as a former consultant to Scotland Yard whose drug addiction brings him to a rehabilitation center in NYC. Post-rehab, Holmes moves in with a “sober companion” in Brooklyn, Joan Watson, a “former surgeon who lost her medical license after a patient died while consulting with the NYPD.”

I just can't see how a female Dr. Watson will work in the story. Your thoughts on this?

Molly's just infatuated by Sherlock oi. Like those girls who admire their male professors. Though I would also like for their quasi-relationship to go further.

Molly is just a sweetheart. She's just sweet, too sweet in fact, to Sherlock's arrogance and coldness. But I think in Season 3, I think, i hope we'll see a Molly who rolls her eyes in annoyance at Sherlock, overcoming her crush on him. Would love how Sherlock reacts to that meaner Molly.

And Sherlock acts like a ten year old boy when dealing with Molly. Its like the teasing/pranking/pulling hair pigtails stuff boys do to the girl they like. In contrast to his teenage infatuation when he deals with Irene. (Ang pagdadalaga ni Sherlock ba, hehe)

About the CBS show, I think its not really a Sherlock-themed one. I think they are using somehow the Sherlock Holmes effect or popularity to make their show talked about or have people think that it will be a different sort of detective show than the ones in the US. I mean, you have CSIs, NCIS, SVU, Bones, etc. etc. to contend to.

So taking the frame of a flawed police consultant with an equally flawed companion (regardless of gender) as in like Sherlock Holmes & Dr. John Watson. But the story plots would be about the criminal cases they will solved. I think that's what it is.

Though in 1987 CBS also produced a TV movie about a 'frozen' Sherlock Holmes and defrosted in the present times by a descendant of Watson, Jane Watson. When Sherlock was defrosted, he began deducing everything and nothing like the arrogant boss that he is and being out of his element because it was years past his own time.

They don't want the bromance, they want a full-blown romance.

A disgraced doctor is a common theme in detective fiction.

Maybe Elementary is gonna be Dr. Megan Hunt(Body of Proof) meets rehabilitated disgraced British import NYPD consultant/lawyer/psychiatrist?

We'll wait and see if this show is not going to end up like any other police procedural.
