This one's a good film from a good read. John Carter is a character from the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice Burroughs--the writer of the Tarzan series. Based on the trailer the film is based on A Princess of Mars, the first book of the series, one of the two books I read in the series. In the book, John Carter was a veteran of the American Civil War who got mysteriously teleported to Mars.
