throw out the FDD. they're already obselete...
Switch to AMD processors...yup, they're reliable and give you a run for your money... Pentium's Processors have the core speed but it isn't proportional to its performance output based on most reviews.. of course, if you change the processor, you'll change the motherboard too.
Get a decent PCI-Express Video Card..for gaming..
Upgrade Memory to atleast 512mb..at least..
Consider on getting a dvd-rw for data storage or get a bigger hard disk..
*WEll, i like my pc gamer specs..hehe
listen to what kazki and I just stated, it will save you a lot of time and hassle
bitaw, from all the reviews and comments i've read it's better to get an AMD proc-based system--unless if mag Core 2 Duo ka...
i have LGA 775 na prescott, then gabasol jud ko run nganung dli AMD na socket 754 or 939 akung gipalit =)
pero at least dli socket 478 akung napalit hehehe
another note with your future system. don't immediately upgrade to WINDOWS VISTA here are some reasons why
1. it's a new OS and not fully tested so there are bound to be bugs and glitches
2. I've heard things being discussed on the Internet as well as the IT Department in my University, and other friends of mine who are grad students and PhD students in my university who say VISTA is very security tight. So if you have any form of illegal software, music, videos, etc it may not work completely and VISTA may not function accordingly. This I am not sure but we were discussing this quite some time ago. Stick for the time being with Windows XP whatever version you have..Home, professional Media Center, etc.
In the end stick with Windows Xp for the time being

bad for games.
if mao ra ni limit sa imo budget for a new rig, better go for an Athlon64 equivalent, add memory at least 512MB (or 1G the better), and get a decent videocard and your set to go whether your use it for office, typing, internet or gaming....
but if your can afford more.. go for Interl Core 2 Duo(2Ghz or higher) setup...
hope this helps...
we still need em for bios updatesOriginally Posted by catch
