    Great Movie

My family and I normally do not watch local movies for the simple reason that they are poorly made, they lack the depth, and just not worth our time.

The trailer of "Nasaan ka man" caught my attention, my daughter in law's and daughter's so we took time out to watch it this afternoon. The movie exceeded our expectations. The cinematography was very good, the story beautiful and the acting awesome. Jericho Rosales was really very good, so's Claudine Barretto. The fact that I despised Diether Ocampo proves he was effective at his role. I have never been this touched, moved and affected by a local movie before. Imagine a cynic like me dabbing my eyes at the end of the movie? Congratulations to Star Cinema!! Way to go, Jericho and Claudine!!

One of the Best Made Filipino Movies

One of the best Pinoy movies of this generation... Claudine may not have showed her best acting (Milan is still her best so far) but she is still a grown actress of her generation... Jericho is as always a well crafted actor... No questions regarding his acting.... Diet is a big surprise in this movie... Gone are the days for ordinary loveteam story line for him.... He has proven that he can be Philippine cinema's future gem....

With the tested-by-time acting of their co actors in this film... i give all of them 5 stars!!!!!!!

    the cats vs. the bat

i watched this movie on the same day that i watched batman. and from my point of view, this movie jittered me more than batman coz i never expected this movie to be that good.
unlike batman, i already expected the dust-eating fistbout and action scenes since it's, well, a batman franchise.
but with this movie, i have some reservations especially that it is a pinoy film.
though the plot looks like lifted from a foreign film (a mix of sixth sense and a beautiful mind) the movie is indeed outstanding compared to other pinoy movies nowadays. it's one of the best so far, after la visa loca.
acting wise i expect claudine and echo to be ok and diether to be a so-so judging from their previous works. i really never like diet's acting. however, with this movie, it seems that diet has the most interesting character, and he delivered it well. gloria and hilda give the comic relief which i enjoyed. cholo laurel has a good start with this one.
and most of all, if batman has bats, this movie has cats. cats roam around in this film making you wonder if they are really part of the ensemble. i think they deserve to be listed in the cast.

The movie was ok... nice... great... I seldom see Filipino movies because of not-so-good quality. And I don't even like Claudine, Jericho, & Diether but in this movie, they were effective... I can say they are great artists. Ang galing! Or maybe, I didn't expect too much from this movie but I can really say, 'Watch this movie!' The casting is good! The story is OK. ü To the whole production and casts of the movie, Congratulations! Keep up the good work! Pwede pa palang gumawa ng mga good quality movie! ü

One of the BEST Filipino films made!

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I had varied emotions while watching this film on the theatre. I was shocked, scared and amazed. The movie made me laugh at some points, it gave me goosebumps, I felt the sadness of the story – I think this will become my all-time favorite Filipino movie!

I entered the theatre with an average expectation. Although I did expect this movie to be good, I didn’t want to set very high expectations from it so that I won’t get disappointed in the end. After watching it, I felt not only satisfied but greatly amazed with the direction, cinematography and the acting of the leads.

Aside from the director (Cholo Laurel) and scriptwriters, credit should also go to three leads – Claudine, Jericho and Diether for their superb performances. I wouldn’t be surprised if these actors receive acting awards for this movie. They just truly deserved it.

Claudine is one of the bankable young stars today and has also made quite a number of good, award-winning and box-office fims in the past few years like Got2Believe, Kailangan Kita and Milan. She has grown so much and and her acting just gets better and better. The daily crying in the telenovelas has truly paid off. When she was starting on TV, I thought her acting was monotonous and bland. But in 2002, I started to like her as an actress in Got2Believe. She has learned to be flexible. Star Cinema has given her the most challenging and biggest roles in the movies and she didn’t disappoint her bosses. All of her movies (and even TV shows) were commercially successful. In this movie, Claudine was able to justify her role. She didn’t overact nor underact. The rape scene was both worst and best scene for me. It was worst because it so sad and painful. As a woman, I felt the grudge (against Ito/Diether). I felt my heart pounding while watching it. In that scene, I saw the best cry from Claudine. (She has probably done thousands of cry scenes in her entire acting career).

I think Jericho is one of the best young actors today. I saw him act on some telenovelas and he was really good. In this movie, Jericho played Joven – the outcast adopted child of Gloria Diaz and Hilda Koronel. He doesn’t talk too much and was underloved by the two spinsters. He also had a number of intense scenes especially his fighting scene with Diether. I like his love scenes with Claudine. It was very passionate, very gentle – you can feel the love between Pilar and Joven.

Diether is so bad in this movie. He played Ito, the oldest of the three siblings. Though he was the favorite son, he became a troubled person because of lack of freedom and great jealousy. He also loved Pilar and got ridiculously crazy when he learned of Joven and Pilar’s plan of getting married. He has the most challenging role in this movie and I think he also was able to justify it. Between Jericho and Diether, I’ve always thought that the former is a better actor. I actually didn’t like Diet’s acting in some of his TV roles. But in this film, he has proven to me that I got him wrong. He also deserves an acting award for his portrayal of a very troubled and very bad (bad as evil!) character.

I also salute the two actresses, Diaz and Koronel, for their wonderful portrayal. They have few comical scenes and lines in this movie.

I know ABSCBN usually exaggerates things when they want to advertise something (a movie or a show) on TV. But this time, all those things said in the ad/trailer were proven to be true. THIS IS A MUST SEE MOVIE! The TWISTS also made this film a SHOULD-WATCH. This movie has the most beautiful sad love story ever!

    disturbing-ly beautiful

i will definitely give 5 stars (or even more!) for nasaan ka man. first of all, cholo laurel did a great job directing this film. his shots were abso*lutely fantabulous, the cinematography was really good. expect well-thought-of cinematic shots here that contribute a lot to the establishment of a really great filipino flick that totally elevated itself from mediocre filipino films. ricky lee also did great with the plot, despite the lack of important details on how claudine and jericho's characters fell in love with each other. all-in-all when it comes to how this film was made, 5 stars (or even more!) are well worth it.
the actors of the film were really good with how they handled their characters. i must admit that the rape scene of claudine was really convincing, my friends and i totally felt for her. diether ocampo, as the villain, was also very effective. jericho rosales, was also at his best in this film, as well as hilda koronel, who definitely provided the comic relief in this very serious and at-times-depressing film. gloria diaz, gave a satisfactory performance, despite her a-bit-forgettable role here.
guys and gals, don't expect this film to end-up giving you the totally-aaaaaaaw-feel-good feeling because it won't. it ends on a bittersweet, a bit depressing, and very hopeful note. the plot twists are also very disturbing, and at times hair-raising. this isn't the type of film that delivers its viewers shout-out-loud screams, rather, it gives its viewers silent screams that are far more better and scarier. kudos to star cinema for producing a film that stands out on all the films that have been released this year. this film is truly a must-see, and most importantly, an indication that filipino films are becoming better and better.
watch this with an open-mind, and prepare to be disturbed by what this movie has to offer.
truly worth your purple buck, no doubt about it.

you know what, I take it back, it's not really that great.

I think the only great thing about this movie is the cinematography, murag nada ra kaayo ko da...
