This is true. If you take a package deal with the hospital it will cost you around 15k - 20k for a normal delivery and 50k - 60k for CS. But package deals have a few drawbacks. First you don't get to choose your doctor, and most of the time you will be rotated between doctors, mostly intern doctors that are still obtaining their medical degree, though the trained doctor will be the one to deliver the baby. Also to qualify for a package pregnancy you have to fulfill a number of requirements depending on the hospital. The hospital I went to required a blood donor.
The package pregnancy is really helpful if you want to save money on the child birth. Without the package you are bound to spend 30k - 40k for Normal and 80K+ for CS.
In my case i did not take the package I ended up spending around 140k for the entire thing. This was due to the many complication my spouse had during the child birth. To elaborate she had a CS, plus our baby was premature. Though everything turned out OK the hospital bill was still a bitch.
Don't get freaked out about my situation though, mine was one of those rare occasion.
Also a tip to save you a little bit of money, ask the nurse or the doctor for the option to buy your own medicine. It's a bit of a hassle but it will save you a few extra pesos on the medical bills. This is because hospitals usually charge extra for medicine that is charged to the hospital.
Hope this was helpful..
TL;DR: 15K - 20K Package Normal, 50k - 60k for Package CS, 30k - 40k for Normal and 80K+ for CS.
Child birth is a bitch. Stick to Condoms 45php or just withdraw if your a risk taker.. =)
