I meant pinging the URL itself. Not the DNS.

Just replace temporary your dns server with 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 and see if this solve the problem.
i replaced the DNS server as u said, but it can't even access yahoo.com

It must not be those sites' DNS since those are big websites you're trying to get in to. Try the following:

    - clearing cache and cookies
    - go to tools > internet options > privacy and set the slider to low
    - go to tools > internet options > advanced and click the restore defaults button
    - configure your firewall (if you have one)
    - if you're on a network, configure the router's firewall
i already did these ever since this problem started.. no improvement..

much worse, GLBB hotline is down.. as i type these messages, i'm already having a hard time accessing istorya.net..

This is not possible. Those are DNS from another ISP. I'm very sure Globe's DSLAM won't read those IPs. But in times like that, anythig is worth a try.

Actually we are using that here we both have globe and mozcom, sometimes sluggish au ang globe so we just switch our gateway to mozcom using their DNS address if a lot are using mozcom gateway for downloads so we switch back to globe gateway using mozcom dns so i believe it could work

Strange. I am on PLDT network and if I use the 4.2.2.1, it works perfect, any site.
If you can access some websites, it could mean that you just got the cached record from globes dns server, but this dns server is for any reason unable to forward your request to the next dns server, if the record is not cached.

Also tried pinging the sites which I cannot access.

games.yahoo.com and www.friendster.com and I got great results. I tested using other DNSs as stated here also OpenDNS but to no avail. I called globeline broadband this noon and the tech support girl requested that their server be restarted and so they did at aroung 12:30pm I was able to access all sites. however after I restarted my pc at around 3:30 i got to the same problem of not accessing some sites.

what can be the problem here. They better not give me the reason "Maybe your computer is busted" or "maybe you have a virus on your computer"!
