But in fairness the legendary PAF Blue Diamonds Aerobatic Team
wowed their american counterparts during their heydays and made them (american pilots)
asked what intrumentations or modifications they made or added to the somewhat antiquated F5A
Freedomfighters jets
We have the talent only we lack the resources (kay gisuyop ang budget sa mga politicians)![]()
An effective air force is really only viable for wealthy nations because more often than not it is technology driven. Older aircraft cannot compete with newer, faster, more maneuverable even stealthy designs and then of course there are the various weapons systems to consider.
To put things in perspective here are the costs which the British government are currently incurring in Libya enforcing the no-fly zone:
Fighter Jets fuel & related operational costs - 2.45 Million Pesos (per aircraft) PER HOUR.
Missiles - Between 56 & 70 Million Pesos EACH.
If a pilot is killed the cost to the RAF for training a replacement is approximately 280 Million. Pesos.
Good input
pa add lang in a more simpler perspective
...also during the US/Coalition forces Operation: Iraqi Freedom
someone from the press jokingly cited and quoting as to the US Fighter Bombers is more like dropping Porsches (yes, the sportscar) to Iraqi Targets.
And yah..he was referring to the price tags those bombs dropped costs more like of sports or luxury vehicles

A French fighter jet (likely a Typhoon) has destroyed a Libyan fighter jet in the first aerial dogfight seen in this confrontation.
