python is a scripting language just like perl. mostly, ang gamit niya is automations (mostly test automations). i use python to open everything i need (web browser, work related items) ig.login dayun nako (coz im very lazy wasting my time doing routines). i made my own script for this one but if you want to automate your desktop using python try this: Project SIKULI
sikuli is a python automated project which captures images and you can edit the script for your customized action (e.g. click google chrome)

you need to learn a "real" programming language like C/C++ or Java or technologies rather than focus on one.

Pero i'm planning to invest my time for phyton beacause base sa akong research sa net murag nindot sad ang phyton ky daghan sad cya ug gamit pero depende ra sad jud na sa developer kong asa cya comfortable. I think the "scripting language" vs "programming language" is a rather arbitrary and pointless distinction. As you mentioned, you can write "programs" (as opposed to "scripts") in Python, so it doesn't make sense to call Python a "scripting language"

I think powerful jud kaayu ang python..hinay pa lang siguro adaption sa ato. Mainstream na man pud sya. Google for instance is supporting this platform sa ilang GAE.

Specially if OO programmer kaayu ka, and you want Rapid Application Development, nindot jud ang python as a tool.

Yea i wouldnt call python a scripting language either. I learned this in college and its one of the most intuitive languages around just like ruby. The only reason its not taken seriously is because it doesnt have a major company backer like Sun for Java or MS for C#.

yap na acquire na ang Sun sa Oracle...In our company we have .Net, Java, and Python but we prefer Python for its speed, portability and can be extended with C language...BUT depende napod sa programmer kong unsa na language iya ganahan kay tanang language naay weak and strong points..
