Default Re: Tarantula care and etc.

From the other thread ni sya ako ra i repost dri hehe
This is base from my experience in keeping Tarantulas, mostly beginner types. I made this brief and more appealing to read than the complicated matters around the internet. Ako pud ning gibagay ayon sa atong filipino set-ups. So, enjoy!

Scribble notes from my observation and point of view:

Brachypelma Albopilosum and Grammostola Rosea (or any Hardy beginner T's)

Depending on size, must provide glass enclosure (or any other enclosure 3 to 5x larger than the size of your T (adults & sub-adults), plastic delicup on slings.

Must have substrates, preferably coco coir/peat or mixed soil and cocopeat.
change substrates regularly in span of months depending on your preference of cleanliness. A clean substrate has no mites (visible as white spots, running or stagnant), no fungi (visible as hair like filaments), no uneaten food items left (i.e. wings, legs, shells) and no sharp objects like cut stone or gravel.

For adults, must have a shallow water dish and check regularly for moisture content. Most of beginner T's are from dry , semi-arid countries like mexico and south america. So hardy tarantulas can tolerate dry environment. However, when it comes to pre-molt stage, moisture is necessary for it to go out of its exoskeleton smoothly. Sparingly spray water on glass sides or directly on cocopeat.

For slings, well basic substrate and container. no water dish or you might want to drown your T.

For Exhibit purposes, you can decorate your enclosure as long as your T will be happy living in it. Provide barks or driftwood by your preference and as long as it is not sharp or has no sharp edges. But if just want to have a pet tarantula in your house, decorations may not be of importance.

    Feeding
Feed Tarantulas between intervals (say thrice a week? twice per 2 days, etc.) I feed mine murag twice per week.

Secluded space, you must have a secure place for your tarantula enclosures away from ants, geckos, dogs, cats, nieces, cousins, siblings reach.
As for ants, insecticide chalk is considered a necessity. In most cases, they do traverse in chalk, so if you have a 4 legged compartment/ apparador; put those legs in a deep dish and fill with water and minced insecticide chalk. Don't stick your apparador or compartment on the wall because the wall is easy access to rats, lizards and the dreaded of all hobbyists, ants.

    So yeah
    -Container/ Enclosure
    -Driftwood/Hide
    -Subtstrate
    -Feeders
-no harmful siblings or nieces or cousins
    -Secure place
    And your good to go!

Any additions/reactions and comments pwd keo hehe~
