No, I'm not saying that. What I am saying is that power source is by definition not completely safe and that despite Japan's best planning an incident has occurred which has released unknown quantities of radioactive material into the atmosphere near one of the World's mega-cities.

In life we take risks, that is the nature of human endeavor and the reason for progress. However, we are not Japan and I do not believe that we currently possess the resources to contain or control any nuclear related problems. Of course we need power, but right now the stakes (IMO) are simply too high to consider the nuclear option for ourselves.

^^ there are lots of alternative like wind, hydro, geothermal. but capacity is not that enough for the whole country

nuclear power is the way to the future, we cant just sit back and wait till the oil runs out. we will rob our people with cheap and green energy and our country's future. This isnt just about what happening to Japan, we need nuclear power one day. If we have to risk it, its worth trying. by 2050 who knows advanced nations will have nuclear power spaceships while we live in the stone age.

you want safe? it is all pointed out here already there are better, safer and cheaper nuclear power technology.

surely nuclear power technology can be handle well by private companies, no need to rely from the government

As we have all witnessed.... accidents can and do happen. We don't yet know the full extent of the Japanese reactor explosions. Will you still feel the same way about nuclear power if for example Tokyo was declared uninhabitable for the next 50 years?

Nuclear power stations are common in Northern Europe, but they do not have to contend with erratic seismic activity. In terms of viable power solutions it's simply a case of "horses for courses". That is my humble, yet earnest opinion.

They survived 2 atomic bomb, i doubt this present scenario is much dangerous than those they had gone through.

we do have much stable seismic activity here than Japan, earthquake is a much common thing sa Japan. Technically speaking we dont have to worry much if we have nuclear power plant here.

I repeat... there are better, safer and cheaper nuclear power technology.

^^ Nuclear bombs and accidental release of radioactive materials are completely different things.
Japanese "endured" the bomb, but nobody would willingly put themselves through something like that. They relied on nuclear power because they have scarce natural resources and with good intentions built reactors which they genuinely thought could withstand a natural disaster. Unfortunately they were wrong.

mga pinoy hadlok sa change ug mga new technology
mas grabeh ang radiation exposure sa japan atong gi bombahan sila .. twice pa jud
wala man gi declare uninhabitable tong 2 cities nga bi bombahan
