You might want to check out Firefly. It's a space western which also spawned a movie, "Serenity". Awesome show. It's a shame it was cancelled.

Check out "Wonderfalls" as well. It's fun, quirky, even neurotic.

Try "Freaks and Geeks". You'll see a young James Franco and Jason Segel there.
"Surface", "Threshold" and "Invasion" were 3 science fiction shows that never really got a decent send off.

I highly recommend Freaks & Geeks. Young James Franco and Seth Rogen. Another one with Seth Rogen, Undeclared. Although technically 2 seasons, I loved Pushing Daisies, The UK version of The Office and a long time ago, My So Called Life was also a great one season wonder.
