    In my case, pagkahuman sa akong management training sa usa ka dakong GOCC sa Mindanao, gipadalhan ko ug offer sa usa pod ka dakong companiya sa Cebu with promises of bigger pay and perks. Wala ko'y contrata pero I preferred to stay kay mora'g unethical man pod seguro ug dawaton nako considering the investment the GOCC spent on my training.

    experience

    company A: offered 60k salary, signed contract with company A then.

    2 days later company B called and offered 84k salary. informed them i already signed contract with company A. they informed me just to show up at the interview. showed up at the interview with company B and offered 84k salary. informed them that i have signed already a contract with company A and should i resign within 6 months then i have to pay them the equivalent of 2 months salary which is 120k. company B offered me again contract, this time 94k and they are willing to buy out my 2 months penalty (120k) from company A

    dilemma:
    Company A - will not release me UNLESS i pay 120K (2 months penalty)
    Company B - will not pay company A 120K UNLESS i will work on my first day with them

    ending: worked with company A ky wala koy 120k na ibayad ug dili man mag hatag daun ang company B kwarta sa company A ky nahan sila mag start ko daun.

    experience: i've got several experiences about this & i never regretted my choices.

    just months ago as an OFW:
    Company A: my current company pays very well with all benefits (i have my own house, food allowance (around 7K pesos), phone allowance (around 1K pesos), Train allowance, Medical Insurance, Trip allowance + i travel alot in different countries, and 2 airfare tickets to cebu for my vacation)..i am a design engineer & i do most of what my manager does & the level of trust is great.working atmosphere is great too, + batan-on pa ng mga co-workers.& i can bring my family with me

    then ako migo from another company offers me to join him in his company. they will pay 40K pesos higher than my current company..kaso i will have a managerial job. i will share apartment (thus can't bring my wife with me), some of there coworkers are malays, thais (which competinsya kaayo sa mga pinoy-usahay labaw pa sa crab mentality).

    Nice ta ang Company B kay managerial lagi, at least pataas sa posisiton. but sa ako bana-bana if dili modouble (or even triple) di nalng jud ko balhin.so wa ko nidayon.
    imo jud na i-weigh ang tanan TS, sweldo+ benefits+working atmosphere vs sa new company...di tanan higayon nga ang sweldo ang basehan..personally, i always think of the opportunities that i can create in my current company first before i start entertaining other offers..magdepende jud na sa imo needs TS. Good Luck...

    @TS: one more example(my sis-in-law)

    nagwork sya sa isa ka dako nga manufacturing company diha sa cebu. she was a Hr Supervisor (limot ko unsa to sya position, basta she holds a higher position). She is very career driven & i think 24 or 25 sya ato, so i would say bata pa. Her manager really likes her very much kay lagi motivated man jud mo work. but maabot man jud sa tao ang kala-ay. One day on a seminar, the owner of Company #2 approached her & offered her a job as an HR manager sa iya company. aside from a very good pay ( i think 25K up to ang offer) managerial pajud ang position (for a career driven individual, mao jud ni atong goal permi: to be on top jud). so, niadto sya sa company & she investigated if it is worth the transfer (kay sa company #1 ok man kaayo ang iya sweldo + nice pajud ang mga benefits). she later found out nga underpaid ang compny #2 employees, then daghan issue ang HR about tardiness, etc. So she turned down the offer. nag cge na hinoon og tawag sa iya ang Company #2 owner & cursing her na hinoon for not being true to her word kuno...after almost a year, My sis in law got promoted as the new HR Manager (while her previous HR manager became a consultant)..I see no regrets from her why she didn't move. & like you said TS, its not the salary but the whole package itself..remember diha sa ato, we only have 1 job (typically). we are married to it everyday (24/7) until we get a divorce & marry another job..wehehe

    Goodluck TS..

    If your goal is to grow, and you can really see that you can do it, stay. The desired pay rate just follows. But if your priority is higher pay, company-hopping happens to be a good way to do it. At least from what I have observed.

    I had offers. Good offers. But I have a goal and I am slowly realizing every bit of it. The best part is that I learn along the way. One time I had a really good offer from a rival firm but I prayed for guidance (Yes, I pray and very much thankful for all the blessings) and carefully studied WIIFM (Benefits, Role, Development, etc.).

    To sum things up, I stayed and after a few weeks, I got promoted.
