i agree for once with rey04.... very deep issues yan... usually bitter cycle of them seeing their moms get beaten by their dads and think it is ok... very very deep anger issues.

some men... automatic na sa ila... they cant seem to control it... and i dont think they can change by themselves... si Lord na lang ang pag-asa nila tawn.

and the women... good grief! they have issues too. tama si evs...if they dont allow themselves to get beaten up... then they wont.

and true... the abuse is not ALL the time physical... the worse one is the emotional abuse... the husband calling the spouse "stupid," "useless," "ugly" kc "fatso," etc... etc... should be more the focus of DSWD...unfortunately...the damage is unseen... the scars hidden....

Husbands who beat/abuse their wives are among the lowest scum of humanity, right along child molestors and rapists. There is no justification or provocation for such actions.

And about verbal abuse, no one needs to suffer it silently. In the Old Old World, particulary the soldier state of Sparta; arguments are won by those who can shout the loudest or insult the best.

If a husband calls his wife 'stupid', 'useless' etc. etc. then the wife can call the husband 'bastos', 'badmouth'.. give the motormouth a taste of his own medicine. And if such retort would lead to a more physical form of abuse, then the wife has grounds now to sue the husband.

Abuse is something that is there if and when someone is there to take it! If one can't take it, by all means give it back! Fight back!

i never saw my dad hit my mom. mao nga dle ug dle judko mo allow being a punchin bag,though there are also emotional and verbal battery and that is very commom in our culture. my best frnd was a battered wife and she would always go to our house and cry until i came to a point nga gikapoy nako listened and brought her sa WOmens Desk in Gorordo....
