I have had people tell me that their camera took a
hit but thankfully the filter took the trauma... with
the dented filter as proof. but that was from being
banged around and not from a fall.

like someone switching lenses in a rush and having the
lens fall off from not locking it into place properly. and to
be honest, a lens filter does little to protect something
like that. a lens filter with an auto-deploying airbag...
    now there's an idea!!!

it's better to keep your head in check and think it
through even when trying to grab a quick shot.
make sure everything is locked in place and your camera
strap securely around you or wrapped around your arm.

for me a lens filter is best for preventing smudges on
your lens. one good example on when to use a protective UV
or skylight filter is shooting kids who like to poke lenses
with sticky fingers. other times I don't use a filter and
prefer a lens hood for bumper protection.

Ako kay I don't usually use my camera kay ma-abugan or mapangka nya.
Naa ra na xa sa sulod sa display case and I look at it and imagine the things I can shoot with it. :P

Seriously now, I usually keep them in a dry box. Use many dehumidifiers.
Get a UV filter for the lens. Get a lenspen and giottos rocket blower.
Have it serviced every birthday sa camera.

If mosuroy sa mall, keep it inside the bag and dili i-sling2x as it is like a fashion accessory. :P
Bugnaw man gud ang aircon then basin mokalit ka gawas mo-fog ang sulod.
At least if sa bag, dili kaayo ma bugnawan... especially sa mga magnesium bodies.

so we cant just use any blower like hair blower right? is there a particular blower for the cams?

  8. #18
rocket blower is good. as it has an intake system on the back end
so it doesn't suck in the dust you're blowing off...

I have used a hair dryer to dry off cameras and evaporate condensation
in lenses when shooting in cold wet weather or from stepping out from
a cold air conditioned space into a warm day

oh... and the rocket blower also doesn't use any electricity
