This technology is actually a combination of two existing ones. So regarding the lifespan on it.... I think it should be reliable enough. With regards to performance it's something I hope someone here can give a first hand experience.

yap! i just bot it last month. In the first boot up you may not so notice it but when 2,3,4,5,...it comes very fast!! ( vaio F12, 8g, 330m) BUT using it w/ heavy video , photo edit applications not so much for the price its very OK.
are you using seagate momentus xt? or another brand?
yes,bro XT seagate hybrid theyre the only one as for now, its same as 7200 rpm/but with 4GB SLC NAND solid state memory, plus 32MB of drive-level cache, comparing 16mb in the original. I compare it w/ my orig 640gig 5400rpm of Vaio with the same applications and file. about 30 -50 secs diffrnce in booting till the hardisk lamp flickrs to off for stand by. And in opening each programs i guess around 2-5 secs. But when, close open it became instantly.Others like playing videos, music, games of course no diffrnce, Just my little observations.
This is great.
But you mean you only see the difference in the startup? no difference in regular usage? how about opening programs?
Like I said 2-3 secs, but if u keep using it. It becomes better or faster. I am not using it for now bec, I have 2-3 HDD for each of my laptops(not external) I swap it every now and then. testing them
each and trying to improve my slowest drive for trial and error configurations. So I wont mess around w/ my favorite drives.
With the prices of SSD now, I think this is a good product to use for now. Thanks for the info, I will definitely consider this in upgrading the HDD for my notebook.
