kareem was just trying to push the issue to the NBA office.. mao lageh na ang issue ang mga players musulod sa NBA thinking big money. when in fact they need to hone their skills first for them to play more than they're capable of because in the NBA you have to give extra effort more than what you can give to excel. wala lageh sweldo pero in the end you will gain experiences to get you further in the future as a professional basketball player. and naa pud fallback if in case they cant make it in the pros they are well educated to venture into another field to continue earning.

Yeah, you are right because they are mislead that NBA pays you big bucks but that should not be a reason why he will changed the minimum age requirements to 21. That's just plain stupid.

Minimum salary for players in the NBA is $800,000. If you have a chance to get that kind of money, go for it! Don't let that old man who once played in the league prevents you for achieving your dream just because he thinks newly-recruits in the NBA are immature.

It's so funny that most people always say that college will make you successful in life when you're done. In fact, I have friends who finished school and still don't have jobs. Estambay lang sa waiting shed. College are not for everyone. You have to think that most of these kids came from nothing and do you think college scholarship can help them? No. Do you think they're smart enough to be in college? Derrick Rose cheated on his SAT test to go to Memphis. Brandon Jennings failed SAT test 3 times -- that's why he went to Europe to play. Both are amazing players. If those other players who got accepted for a scholarship to play basketball, you have to think these situations: How about the weekly allowance for food, laundry, and etc.? Do you think that college can make these kids become mature? Do you think they will stay for 4 years if an agent invited them for a work-out with an NBA team and end-up offered to play for them?

The good thing about college for them is their popularity, get laid, get high on purple haze, and invited to party at some frat houses. That's it. Oh wait, and put their parents into deep debt. But why would you force these kids to get a degree that something they're not interested in?

The truth about college is that those institutions are running a business. They didn't accepted you to go the school because of your educational prowess. They just want your money. Tickets sales alone for a basketball game can earn the school a millions of dollars. So, these college players are just being used for business.

I don't hate Kareem on his statements though. He's a nice man and I idolized him and changed the game of basketball but the world is changing like how nowadays black people can share the same washroom with white people. If most players back in the day graduated college, that awesome, but now, you don't have to as long you have the skills to offer. Too bad though if you can't stay long in the league. Life is not fair.

yeah its their reward alright but talent alone in the NBA will not get you no where.. prime example.. LeBron James... 7 years with his talent didnt get him the gold.. well 2 mvps but the teams are all about the championship.. if he cant get his ring then he might be in the record books.. the player with lots of MVP trophies but not a single championship trophy.. well what kareem is telling is for the good of the teams and the good of the aspiring players.. and also for the benefit of the NCAA..
