in the old testament times, it was mandatory...and it didnt directly mean about money since wala pa ma'y kwarta sauna like the ones we use nowadays...their tithes was more on the harvests and stuff like that then converted to silver or gold or those things they used as "money". and regarding with the new testament texts on tithing, it revises the law from the old testament...

pero as i said, naa ra jd nato kng mohatag ta or not...dili ka sa church manubag but sa Ginoo...

as you posted: as long as the denomination is a christian one

now if a denomination based their doctrines only in the Old testament, i think they are not Christians anymore. judaism and islam uses also the old testament. that is why in the new testament many laws were revised/abolished by Christ..

while it is true that in the old testament christ was not still born on earth as a human, a denomination wouldnt be called "christian" if they only followed old testament texts ONLY. but christian denominations does not only follow the new testament texts but the old testament texts as well..they go parallel together...

as for the tithing, to clarify things out, God made it mandatory in the old testament but was revised in the new testament lowering down the mandatory law and changed it into an encouragement to give out of your free will for the continuance of the church..

God told us to build up treasures in heaven, not on earth because this world is just fleeting and soon it will pass away.

As what ive observed in other countries (bangkok, myanmar, india, buddhist country and etc...) they give tithes and offerings to their gods around 70% sa ilahang kita ug food imagine that... 30% lang ang nahabilin sa ilaha pero they still survive, they pray to their gods whole day bsag init kaau...

how much more kanang 10% tithes gamay rah kaau nah oie, then kanang tithes nga madawat sa church daghan na kaau ang matabangan ana.. sa usa gud ka semana ika usa rata mka hatag ug tithes then the rest sa ato.a nah..

in the biblical times especially during the time when paul was travelling to evangelize and establish churches from different places, the tithes that people from the churches of corinth, philippi, rome and all other churches he established supported his journeys...in our timeline, tithes go to the same purpose and that is to support the full time church workers. wala raba intawn sweldo ang mga ni.commit sa pagpangalagad sa simbahan. ang nagsupport nila financially kay ang tithes. some portion of the tithes also goes to the maintenance of church facilities and equipments, some goes to the operational costs like electricity, water, construction, rentals and other stuff.

it is every genuine christian's duty to contribute in tithing...but then again, we have the freedom to follow it or not going parallel with the fact that we have the freedom to choose from righteousness or downfall...naa ra jd na sa individual kng naa siya'y kasingkasing nga mohatag para sa buluhaton sa Ginoo...
