go for the 50 1.4... its better to have an extra stops than extra reach... IMO.

bitaw bro, if you think you're ready to take on the job then go for it, if not then shoot as a back up photographer. you might want to test the waters first rather than jump in directly

bitaw bro, most of my shots walay external flash, you can do it with a prime...hehehe

@bahiista: thanks, im glad you liked it

@gentext: you have a point, but if you can't have that reach you can't get those shots. i believe 1.8 is adequate already if not then you can use a flash

btw, setting it at 1.4 isnt impressive though, you'll need practice since it has very shallow DOF and its a bit soft but still faster than at 1.8, the 50mm 1.4 shines at 1.8 and above while the 85mm is already sharp at 1.8

but for everything else the 50mm would do just fine, its up to you.

you can check my blog, most of it are shot with the 50mm 1.4
thank you for the insight. I've seen your photo Paula Remy? I think she's my school mate at CDU. hehe was that 50mm 1.4? I'm afraid if mu gabie na so vital ang flash pataya jd. I think I won't let them pay. I'll take this for free

chacha? its a prime lens, its your feet will do the zoom. so ample of space is very salient specially where situation like wedding which is most of the time limited.

no, don't backout. if others can do it, you can as well. shoot with passion.
get it now. hehe sir but I'm afraid if mu gabie na. mag gamit nlng kog pop-up flash haha

85mm 1.8 for the win, pair it with your kit lens for group shots, that should do the trick
