feeding ur dogs sawdust (not the sawdust sa wood ha) is some form of barf feeding also. but u have to make sure that there are no sharp bones in it and u have to make sure u serve it raw which also means regular deworming for ur dog (either raw diet or dog food ur dogs will still get worms) .

why raw? its because when bones are cooked it hardens and will cause laceration in ur dogs stomach... (it might kill ur dog slowly if cooked)

i feed my dogs sawdust too but f u check on sawdust price its around 50 in sm i think and 40 in super metro that s why i decided to feed my dogs ground porks instead because the difference in price is just close. and i can cook the ground pork

Thanks Lamangzz...I don't know anything about sawdust. When someone asked me that...I thought..."sawdust?"..."you give your dog wood?"...than flashbacks of people in the States giving their fighting dogs "gunpowder" went through my mind and I was ready to go into the offensive! But thank God, someone educated me about "sawdust" sold here. Whew...I almost got into trouble protecting fighting dogs again!

Anyways, what is the meat in sawdust? With any of the raw meats I give to my dogs, I boil it for 3 minutes with kalamansi. That was per vet's instructions to kill bacteria. Does that also apply with ground pork? Should I cook it longer? I have not given ground pork yet to the dogs, but my vet said it is better than ground beef. What do you think?

Will PM the recipe by this weekend. Take care of your puppy please! Check out the thread on Tips on being a responsible pet owner. A happy, calm, and centered puppy will be an awesome adult dog. Since you have a pit bull, learn about the breed, socialize them, establish "alpha" with them, don't tie them, plenty of excercise, and plenty of affection as rewards. Pits love affection, but you have to give it to them as rewards. No hitting...that is critical! Check out my pits in the Facebook under Barqs Champion (my 3 y/o pit who is AKC Canine Good Citizen certified, on step before being a therapy dog). I have been blessed with him and two other pit mixes who are so loyal and loving to everyone.

@bullybreedlover -- ehehehe i got the same reaction too when my friend told me long time ago about feeding dogs sawdust :P i was like "what!? isnt wood bad for dogs stomach?!" and they were all laughing out loud :P (the probinsyano me) lol :P sawdust is sometimes from pork or beef. when they cut pork parts or beef parts using a machine the granules that is left in the blades are sawdust.

yep ground pork is definitely better than ground beef.. too much beef will put ur dogs into serious trouble because its too oily and when cooked its so hard to be digested although i give my dogs beef but not everyday.. its like twice or once a week.

See...I knew I was "Probinsyana" also! So do I cook the ground pork also for three minutes or does it have to be thoroughly cooked?

its always good to serve it raw tho (in germany, rottweiler breeders feed their dogs raw meat mixed with vegetables and yogort) .. u will get better result like not bad odor poops and less bad cholesterol

but u must make sure u deworm ur dog regularly. (they will get worms anyway even if ur feeding them cooked food or commercial dog food)

one thing to check: dont buy meat in public markets because i have tried buying once because its really cheap but then i found out it got formalin especially the lever part :P it will really kill ur dog.
