    tsk-tsk.
    this is a serious question.
    wisecracks dont belong here.

women are adept in politics.theyve been there since the first suffrage movement took off.
they begun as campaigners. behind their husband/fathers/uncles.
soon they took the helm themselves.
filipino female politicians are mostly daughters or nieces or wives of politicians. born to a political or economic elite (read: cory and glory) with sterling education and training.
some appear to buckle that scenario though.
i evaluated a woman mayor's governance for my undergrad thesis using all 10 indicators by Brilliantes. (journal of public ad 2004)
my findings: she rated a measly 2.45 but her constituents seemed loyal to her and the barangay officials were mostly ignorant of the high end management level affairs.
has to do with transparency and accountability variables i think.
wont bore you one word more.

women can be just as good, even better than men in politics and governance. but some authors say there are gendered practices when it comes to politics; like most women use "cariƱo" or charm as a strategy for winning support (Roces, 2000). they are said to be less violent than male public officials, and in fact, less corrupt, or have a lesser tendency to be corrupt. i dont know if its just because they are lesser in number, i.e., less women officials, less corrupt women officials. but at least, the nurturing, motherly attitude of women is one edge they have over men politicians. and its good to know that they are now coming out of the confines of their homes, performing public (political), not just private (house) roles. kudos to our women!
