Default Re: WILL MP3 BECOME A NEW STANDARD FORMAT IN CONSUMER AUDIO?

mp3's have different encoding system..like LAME...iTunes (fraunhofer)...etc...if it falls below 128kbps then that's i consider low quality...i am currently contented with the 192kbps or VBR...but nevertheless audio cds from music stores still sounds different..if i have disposable income i would prefer the cd's in music stores...one would know if your using nice audiophile gears...
but..iPods just make it more convinient..way more convinient...blame it on technology...

right...i benefit a lot on mp3's and mp3 players...but the clarity and quality on cd's are still the best.

mp3s are compressed audio files and their quality is not as good as audio CD files. so i think not. CDs will always be a standard for a long, long time. i hope the world will not run out of music lovers who actually buy CDs or the music they like, not just download them. i hope the world will not run out of music lovers who CAN actually afford to buy music.

i love CDs not only because of the sound quality but because of the whole package. CDs are more fun (especially for collectors like me) because you get to have inlay cards and some colorful album artwork. an iPod cannot replace it in my opinion.

    Google this: DVD Audio.

Or get infos here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Audio and http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question344.htm

I don't know if its considered the next big thing in consumer audio but they're actually being sold a lot na diri sa u.s. along with the regular audio CDs.

The big thing right now is the iPod. Even cellphones are adapting iPod like features.

    Go figure.

haha, same here. for as long as i like the artist, i buy the CD. it's all worth it pero if dili kaayo ko fan sa artist, i'll settle for the mp3. hehe.

maybe ipods and other portable media players could be a reason or simply the ease of sharing a file.

i know there will be another medium after these CD's in the future where music will be stored. but if they will sacrifice quality for portability or reliablity, i wont object but i'd still prefer having compact discs cluttered in my room. but if it comes in both worlds, i'd surely jump into that new one!
