everything is packed.... reason why I have to: just observe the weather for the last a couple of days.... just perfect for a landscape shoot. Been observing some weather datas and the chances for rain is very minimal. This is what travel photographers are very careful about, getting the best light and weather as much as possible. Also, its a Sunday and Christmas season, so interaction with the island people would be very ok.

Accomodation in Poro, Camotes is as low as P300-P400 per room (good for 2 persons) per day. Try the pension houses near Poro Church.

Camotes is made up of several islands -- the three main islands are Poro (capital towns are Poro and Tudela), Ponson (capital town is San Francisco) and Pacijan (capital town is Pilar). The islands of Poro and Ponson are connected by a causeway while Pacijan is 15 minutes away by motorized banca. Pacijan is very near Leyte and in fact some big factories in Leyte are already very visible from there.

The problem with Camotes is land transportation. Habal-habal ra jud ang means of transportation and some Habal-Habal drivers "overcharge" especially if you're not from there.

If you want an honest and reliable (and buotan kaayo) na Habal-Habal driver, naa koy ma recommend. Just PM me and I will give you his contact number.

Suki ni namo because I was involved with a book project of the archdiocese and siya among contact didto.

Below: A pumpboat from Kawit (Poro Island) going to Ponson Island (capital town is Pilar). Pakyaw is P400, the boat driver will take you to Pacijan Island and will wait for you for your return trip. Pay the boat driver only after the return trip.

    Below:
A Spanish-era chapel in Barangay Lanao in the town of Pilar. The chapel still has its original retablo and pulpit and some other furnishings. Note that this is not a church but just a chapel.

Below: A modified matraca, a wooden clapper used during Holy Thursday in lieu of bells.

Below: An antique BVM statue in the chapel of Santiago Apostol in Santiago Bay.

We envy your shots over at PilaR and as well as the shots of herp_doctor around Lake Danao... maybe I can make great shots once am back here after Christmas of 2009
