The prefetch folder is mainly used for speeding up your system on loading the programs or applications you want to use ahead of time prior you ask them. But also, it may cause slowing your system once entries on the prefetch folder are unattended or not in use.

So if you want to disable the prefetch in the registry, follow below steps:

- Start --> Run --> type "Regedit" --> Enter
- Navigate this value in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\MemoryManagement\PrefetchParameters
- Look for the key named "EnablePrefetcher" located at the right side pane
- Edit the DWORD value to "0" to disable the prefetching
- Restart PC
