wala ni silay backward compatibility ang mga sockets ani nila? ka bati baya ug style murag bati jud ni ug mga feedbacks sa mga consumers na mag upgrade2x kay daghan na kaau ilisunon.

thanks for responding guys...by the way....the last to be release is the i3 (35mn)...which gonna be using a mobo which has no ICH (South bridge) and MLH (North bridge) ..correct lang me ha if am wrong....hehehe..the mobo will has only PCH (Platform Controller Hub)
karon lang jud ko na inform sad na u can used the 8 pin to have SLI or crossfire mode sa imo mobo bisag usa ra imong PCI-E x16 na slot.....i correct lang ko master C.E kung sayop ko.....hehe..mao man gud na discuss ganina....
ka gasto diay anang i7 9xx or i7 8xx...liman ka u have to buy 3 rams..kay triple channel naman diay na..its a good thing naay TURBOBOOST technology (which enables to increase the clockspeed automatically if 1 or 3 cores wala nagamit...)
^ the current Core2Quad on the high-end right now will become i3 until the official i3s come out on the expected timeline.
the I5 is already using PCH. the fancy northbridge you see on the i5 mobos are right now serves no purpose. these choices aren't really a bad thing as they give you options depending on how much budget you have.

just want a comparison guys, is amd doing this too - shifting to non-backward compatibility?
^ sa AMD kay medyo complicated sad gamay pero they're trying to maintain backwards compatibility, AM2, AM2+ and AM3 socket.
seeing that we're using Anand's words on this thread, I might as well use his explanation on AMD sockets as a reference.AMD’s big selling point of its Socket-AM3 processors is that they can still be used in Socket-AM2+ motherboards. In other words, you can use them in DDR3 or DDR2 motherboards. There’s a catch - the Phenom II X4 955 needs a BIOS update to work properly. And guess what? Not all motherboards have that BIOS support yet.
It’s not a major change but the fact of the matter is that AMD and its board partners have not done the work necessary to enable support across the board at launch. That means that if you have a Socket-AM2+ board, you may not be able to run the Phenom II X4 955 just yet.
take note lang ha nga AM3 processors can be used on AM2+ sockets but AM2+ processors do not work AM3 sockets. bisan balion pa nimo ang extra pin sa AM2 processor para masulod sa AM3, di gihapon mo work but the processor can still work on its own socket pareha sa gibuhat sa tom's hardware.

^ that's poldopunk's masterpiece alright!! thnx
mao nani ron.. la pa poy klaro ang amd. hope amd continues the backwards compatibilty stream, panguntra sa intel. backward vs. non-backward compatibilty..
wa lng jud ko gnahi anang lain2x ug socket sa i3, i5, ug i7..let's say mupalit ko ug i3, then in the long run mu decide ko na mu upgrade to i7, then knahanglan pko palit ug bago na board, which is really "mahal".
